New design proudly displays OU's seven national championships.
NORMAN, Okla. -- When you see the Oklahoma football equipment truck driving down the highway this fall, you'll notice a sleek new design.
OU's 18-wheeler, which hauls the team's equipment to every road game, recently received a major facelift. View photos of the redesigned truck by clicking the image above.
The new design, created by OU Director of Graphic Design Scott Matthews, proudly displays the Sooners' seven national championship trophies along the side panels, which measure more than 8.5 feet tall and nearly 52 feet long. The rear panel features Oklahoma's six Big 12 titles under Coach Stoops.
The graphics were printed on custom vinyl to wrap the entire surface area of the truck and were recently installed by Davene, Inc., the same company that did the wraps for OU's team buses at the 2009 BCS National Championship Game.
The cost of the design project was funded by the University of Oklahoma Touchdown Club. In its 50+ years of existence, the Touchdown Club has provided more than $6 million in financial support to the OU Athletics Department for both scholarships and non-scholarship related projects.
The redesigned truck will make its debut trip down I-35 when OU meets BYU in the season opener Sept. 5 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
