OU to unveil new Owen Field video board at season opener on August 30.
NORMAN, Okla. -- With a little more
than two weeks before the season-opener on August 30,
workers are applying the finishing touches on the
south scoreboard structure at Owen Field. SoonerVision
continues testing of the video board elements inside
the stadium. View the latest photos from Norman by

Structure Graphics
On August 12, workers applied graphics
which completely wrap the south side of the scoreboard
structure facing Lindsey Street. The design incorporates
six corporate partner logos and continues the tradition
of listing Oklahoma's national championship years below
the stadium name.
"When I first came to OU, the graphic on the scoreboard
was something that caught my eye," said Scott Matthews,
graphic design director for OU Athletics. "I
knew immediately this project was important.
It's our opportunity to communicate the Oklahoma tradition
and the pride our fans have in the program."
In addition to the new design, the materials
and application procedure have been upgraded. The old
graphics were painted directly on the metal surface
of the scoreboard. The new design consists of 126
individual vinyl sections measuring four feet by 10
feet. Each of the vinyl sections have been
treated with a UV-protective laminate which promotes
longevity.
New Video & Sound
OU will unveil the new football video
and audio system during the season opener against Chattanooga
on August 30.
The face of the video board will measure 113.5
feet wide by 32.5 feet tall for a total viewing area
of 3,689 square feet. Oklahoma's board will be among
the five largest in college football.
