Coaching Accomplishments
Two of his players earned All-Big 12 honors in 2001, including Tommie Harris who was called by many the top freshman defensive lineman in the nation.
In 2000, he had four defensive linemen selected to All-Big 12 teams including first-team selection Ryan Fisher.
Player Accomplishments
A first-round pick (14th overall) of the Miami Dolphins where he played five seasons. He helped the Dolphins post a 48-31 record, make two playoff appearances and advance to the 1985 Super Bowl. Shipp was the Dolphins' leading tackler (79) in 1987 and finished his career in Miami with 231 tackles.
Played one season with the Los Angeles Raiders (1988).
A standout linebacker at the University of Oklahoma, he starred on Sooner squads that posted a combined 33-14-1 record, won two bowl games and captured the 1980 Big Eight Championship.
Earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior, and was selected as an All-American by Football News following his junior campaign.
In the 1982 border clash with Texas, Shipp was a one-man wrecking crew with 21 tackles, just three shy of the OU single-game total record.
Totaled 477 total tackles in his career which stands second on the OU list for career tackles. Also owns the single-season record for tackles (182) during his sophomore campaign in 1981.
