6:55 | Great time to be a Sooner, folks. Suuuuu-weet 16!!!!! Boomer ...
6:50 p.m. | We're at the under-four-minute timeout with Oklahoma leading,
OU hasn't made a 3 this half. Michigan has 4. Sooners great at the line to compensate, making 10-of-13.
Blake update -- 30 points and 15 rebounds. OU record for points in an NCAA game is 37 by Stacey King against Auburn in 1988. Blake's total thus far ranks No. 5. His rebounding total ranks No. 2 and he needs just two to tie the school mark held by Harvey Grant.
How about Tony Crocker's defense on Harris. Crock has just two points, but don't judge him on that alone. Yeoman effort on the other end.
6:35 p.m. | We're at the under 8-minute timeout of the second half with Oklahoma leading, 58-53. Oklahoma has not yet subbed this half. Blake has made all six of his field goals this half and the Sooners have made six straight free throws.
Still, Michigan is on an 8-0 run.
6:27 p.m. | Michigan fans chiding Blake by chanting, "Griffin, Griffin, Griffin." Seems akin to tugging on Superman's cape. Griffin has 23 points and 13 rebounds.
We're at the under 12-minute media timeout. Taylor Griffin going to the line.
Sooners now 4-of-11 at the free throw line. Michigan is 6-of-8.
Shooting in the second half -- OU 9-of-13 for 69%, Michigan 4-of-16 for 25%.
6:11 p.m. | Michigan calls a timeout with 17:46 left in the half. By rule it goes to a full 2:30 timeout. The Sooners have opened the second half with a flurry, making 3-of-4 shots. Michigan missed its only attempt.
If OU advances to Memphis for the Sweet 16, tickets will be available to Sooner season ticket holders only. That sale will start Monday morning on a first-come, first-served basis.
Hey congrats to the OU Women's Gymnastics team for winning the Big 12 title last night!!! That's three Big 12 crowns so far -- football, women's basketball (regular season) and women's gymnastics.
OK, the places we've eaten in Kansas City on this trip -- Garozzo's (sp?) Italian, Town Topic (mini-diner with great cheeseburgers), Capital Grill, Brio on the Plaza and Manny's Mexican. Those weren't all me (necessarily) -- just a compilation from several in the travel party.
5:45 p.m. | It's halftime with Oklahoma leading, 30-29. Might be a surprising advantage for OU after shooting just 11-of-29 in the first half (37%). The Sooners made 5-of-12 three-pointers (so did Michigan). UM was 4-of-6 from the stripe while OU was 3-of-7.
Leading scorer for Oklahoma was Blake Griffin 13. Willie Warren added 9 with Austin Johnson getting six. For Missouri, Anthony Wright scored 12 to match the season high he scored back on Nov. 25 against Norfolk State. His presence made up for the loss of Manny Harris, who was out early with two fouls.
The leading rebounder in the game is Blake with 9. Taylor has 4.
OU has an amazing 10 assists on 11 baskets.
Austin Johnson was the only player on either team to play all 20 minutes in the first half.
On the miscellaneous stats, OU led in points in the paint, 12-4; in points off turnovers, 12-6; in second-chance points, 7-5; and in fastbreak points, 6-2. In bench points, Michigan got the better of it, 12-1. Wright had all 12 for the Wolverines.
5:33 p.m. | Fourth media timeout of the first half and OU about to get it back after a Michigan turnover. Sooners shot just 1-of-4 from the field since the last timeout. The Wolverines were 3-of-6 and continue to blister the nets at 55.6%. OU is shooting 40.9%.
OU is up 10-4 with points in the paint and 9-6 on points off turnovers.
Anthony Wright has three treys for Michigan -- he entered today's game with 13 (out of 44) in 24 games played. He has yet to miss in this one.
5:21 p.m. | Third media timeout. Michigan shooting 7-of-12 including 4-of-7 from outside the arch. Rebounding is 9-8, OU. Sooners have seven assists on eight baskets. Turnovers are 6 for UM, 3 for OU.
Blake has 8 points, 6 each for Austin Johnson and Willie Warren -- all on three's.
UM is playing without its top two scorers. Harris out with two fouls, Sims apparently injured.
5:19 p.m. | Shane asking how Blake got the bloody elbow -- early scrum on Michigan end. Blake also has a swab in his nose now because of a bloody nose.
5:13 p.m. | Second media timeout. Juan Patillo coming in for the first time. Cade Davis about to enter the game too. Wolverines staying in it with jumpers -- 6-of-11 from the field including 3-of-6 from long distance.
Blake has 8 points and 4 rebounds early. Michigan trainers tending to DeShawn Sims on the bench.
Michigan has shown some man-to-man this half. OU has been predominately man, but played at least one possession of zone.
5:08 p.m. | First media timeout of the game. Manny Harris, Michigan's leading scorer, just picked up his second foul. Here's a stat to watch -- Michigan is very good at the free throw line -- .756 for the seasson. You'd expect that from a short line-up. Conversely, UM is -3 in rebound margin.
Early shooting -- OU 2-of-7, Michigan 3-of-7. Sooners have a 6-3 rebound advantage.
Omar Leary in for Tony Crocker. Official Gerry Pollard just came to the scorer's table to ask for some gum to be scraped off the floor near Michigan's basket.
The crowd is no longer spotty -- the place is again packed.
4:54 p.m. | Toby Keith is in the house. Also here is Steve Kerr, the former Arizona star, who actually played against OU in the 1988 Final Four right here in Kansas City.
4:45 p.m. | OK, fans, we're back courtside at the Sprint Center. Spottier crowd than Thursday night. Pretty decent Michigan contingent and of course a good number of Sooner fans here too.
We'll be updating throughout the game. You are encouraged to email the link on this page and we'll get some exchange going. Brad from Southlake, Texas already asked if it seems as though Willie Warren has been driving less lately, especially with Blake in the game. Might be a good point. May be trying to keep the middle open for the big guy. Guard play will be key today against that Michigan zone. It will be imperative to hit some outside shots. OU has a total of just 7 three-pointers over the last two games after going 4-of-12 against Morgan State. Let's see if that improves today.
Michigan is 21-13 and has won six of its last nine including the 62-59 decision over Clemson on Thursday night. The winner of this game moves on to Memphis for Friday/Sunday action next weekend.
