NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -Blake Griffin tied his career high with 18 points and added nine rebounds as Oklahoma pulled away in the second half to defeat Rice 61-49.

It was the fourth straight win for the Sooners (11-3), who led by just three at halftime. Oklahoma outscored the Owls 16-5 in the first six-and-one-half minutes of the second half to take a 46-33 lead.

Rice (3-10) got no closer than 11 points the rest of the way, suffering their third road loss of the week.

Griffin, the Sooners talented freshman center, didn't score in the last 15 minutes of the game, but teammate Austin Johnson took over at that point, scoring eight of his 12 points and recording a career-high six steals. Keith Clark added 11 points off the bench for Oklahoma.

The teams swapped the lead in the first half before Oklahoma broke a 21-21 tie on a Griffin dunk. The Sooners never trailed after that point, despite missing their first 11 three-point attempts of the game.

Oklahoma finished just 4-of-21 from beyond the arc and shot 43.1 percent overall. Rice hit just 16-of-55 from the field.

Rice got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Paulius Packevicius and 14 points from Rodney Foster.
