Postgame Notes

OU 63, UT Arlington 59 | Nov. 16, 2012 | Arlington, Texas

• Oklahoma improved to 2-0 with a 63-59 road win over UT Arlington in front of a crowd of 6,421. It marked the 496th career victory for OU head coach Lon Kruger.

• The Sooners improved to 6-0 all-time against UTA. Friday's matchup marked the first played away from Norman.

• OU's win was just its fourth in true road contests in the last four years. The Sooners went 1-9 in each of the last three seasons in true road contests.

• Oklahoma won despite shooting just .328 from the field, .278 (5-for-18) from 3-point range and .625 (20-for-32) from the free throw line. UTA recorded respective .379, .167 and .571 shooting marks.

• After taking a 3-0 lead on a Je'lon Hornbeak 3-pointer, OU missed its next 11 shots and eventually fell behind 12-3. Trailing 19-11, the Sooners went on a 22-1 run to take a 13-point lead and settled for a 38-28 advantage.

• OU extended its lead to 17 (47-30) five minutes into the second half. UTA tied the game at 57-57 with 2:46 remaining before a Steven Pledger 3-pointer with 2:24 left put the Sooners up for good.

• OU freshman Buddy Hield scored a game-high 17 points off the bench, all in the first half. He scored 11 straight points during the Sooners' 22-1 run. Hield finished the game 6-for-10 from the field, 2-for-4 from 3-point range and 3-for-4 from the free throw line while adding 4 rebounds and a steal in his 19 minutes.

• Senior Romero Osby recorded OU's first double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high-tying 10 rebounds. He recorded seven double-doubles last year.

• Guards Steven Pledger and Cameron Clark each contributed 9 points.

• The game was just the fifth for UT Arlington in its new $78 million College Park Center (opened Feb. 1).
