With the 77-49 loss, Oklahoma fell to 22-11 overall and 10-8 against Big 12 Conference foes.
OU now holds a 45-27 all-time record against Texas and is 16-14 since the inception of the Big 12 Conference. The Sooners have won 27 of the last 42 overall meetings, but Texas has won the last six (all by double digits). OU holds a 4-2 lead against the Longhorns in Big 12 Championship play with a 3-1 mark against UT in semifinals action.
Oklahoma was outrebounded 38-33 on the game after holding a 22-14 lead at halftime.
UT shot .500 (27-for-54) from the field and .455 (10-for-22) from behind the 3-point line. In the season's previous two meetings against Texas, OU held the Longhorns to a combined .379 shooting from the field and a .262 (11-for-42) mark from 3-point distance.
With his 10th rebound at the 18:31 mark in the second half, Blake Griffin recorded his 10th double-double of the year (seventh against a team ranked in the top 25 at some point this season). The game marked just his third since returning from arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a partially torn medial meniscus in his right knee. Griffin finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and two steals.
Cade Davis started his second straight game (sixth overall) and responded by tying a career high with three 3-point makes on seven attempts. The freshman from Elk City, Okla., had previously accomplished the feat against Iowa State (Feb. 13) on 3-of-3 of shooting from behind the line.
Austin Johnson recorded a career-high 10 assists. Johnson had twice previously approached the double-digit mark with nine assists last season against Norfolk State (11/10/06) and this season versus West Virginia (12/29/07).
OU is now 19-9 (.679) in 12 years of the Big 12 Championship and has won at least one game in 10 of the 12 events.
