Postgame Notes

Texas A&M 69, Oklahoma 51

Jan. 8, 2011

• No. 16 Texas A&M snapped Oklahoma’s eight-game home winning streak with a 69-51 victory in both teams’ Big 12 opener.  The win for the Aggies was their 11th in a row and upped their record to 14-1.  Their only loss this year came by two points to Boston College (67-65) on Nov. 25 in Orlando, Fla.

• Texas A&M shot .543 from the field, the second best mark against OU this year.  The Sooners’ .400 field goal mark was their worst in four games and third worst of the season.

• The Aggies led by just six points (42-36) with 15:50 remaining in the game before using a 16-2 run to open up a 58-38 lead with 8:30 left.

• The Aggies entered the game with a +12.6 average rebounding margin and outboarded Oklahoma 30-20.  The Sooners managed just four offensive rebounds on the day and just one in the second half (came on their first possession).

• Sophomore forward Andrew Fitzgerald scored a game-high 17 points for his 12th double-figures effort in 15 outings.  He was 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line while adding five rebounds, a block and two steals.  Over the last nine games, Fitzgerald is shooting .795 (31-for-39).

• Senior guard Cade Davis contributed 13 points and a team-high six boards.  He made all six of his free throw attempts and tied J.R. Raymond for eighth place on OU’s career 3-pointers list (153) with his second-half trey (he was fouled on the play and converted the free throw for a four-point play).

• Sophomore point guard Carl Blair handed out eight of OU’s 12 assists in a season-high-tying 38 minutes.

• After averaging 13.7 points and 6.2 rebounds over Oklahoma’s last six games, freshman guard/forward Cameron Clark was held to seven points and no boards today.

• The Aggies held a 12-0 advantage in fast break points and outscored OU 19-7 off turnovers.

• Oklahoma holds a 28-7 series lead against Texas A&M, but the Aggies have won six of the last nine meetings.

• The Sooners play their first Big 12 road game of the year when they travel to Baylor on Tuesday (8 p.m. CT tip).
