NORMAN, Okla. -- Another rally helped the Red Team post another victory in the University of Oklahoma baseball program's annual Red/White Series, as the squad collected four runs over the final two frames to post a 6-3 win over the White Team Tuesday in Game 4 at L. Dale Mitchell Park and improve its record to 4-0 in the fall series.

"The Red Team continues to show good poise and good leadership," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "They didn't seem to panic, and even when they got behind, they just seemed to wait for the White Team to make a mistake and capitalize."

Jack Mayfield, who has posted multi-hit efforts in all four games of the series, led the Red Team with two hits and two runs scored. He is hitting .538 with seven hits and three RBIs in the Red/White Series. Anthony Hermelyn drove in three runs for the Red Team.

"Jack's doing a good job," said Golloway. "He's getting those hits with two outs and men in scoring position. You look up, and sure enough, he's in a position where he's got a chance to make an impact, and he's an impact-type guy. Hermelyn's been very consistent for four straight games."

The Red Team found itself trailing 3-2, going into the bottom of the fifth inning but put together a three-run rally to turn the tide of the contest. Mac James coaxed a leadoff walk, and Craig Aikin followed with an infield single to put two on with nobody out. After James and Aikin each advanced 90 feet on a ground out, the White Team opted to intentionally walk Mayfield and load the bases with one out. The Red Team struck for two runs as James and Aikin scored on a fielder's choice and an error, respectively. Mayfield made it a 5-3 game when he scampered home on a fielding error by the White Team.

The Red Team added an insurance run in the sixth when James hit a one-out single up the middle, stole second and advanced to third on an error and scored on a fielder's choice.

The Red Team's comeback came after the White Team had built a 3-2 edge through four and a half frames. The White Team landed the first punch in the top of the first when Kolbey Carpenter led off the game with a double to right, moved to third on a bunt single by Dusty Dishman and scored on a double play.

The White Team tacked on another run to its total in the third when Dishman was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and scored two outs later on a double by Dylan Neal, who finished the contest with a game-high three hits.

The Red Team struck back in the home half of the frame, though, to tie the game at two-all. Hector Lorenzana knocked a one-out single to center, and Mayfield followed with a double to right center, setting the stage for Hermelyn to drive both of them home with a two bagger to center.

The White Team grabbed the lead back in the fourth when Justin Burba drew a leadoff walk and later scored courtesy of an RBI sacrifice bunt by Dishman, but the Red Team had the final say in the contest with its late push.

The final contest of the five-game Red/White Series will be played Thursday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The contest is free and open to the public.
