NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU baseball team announced its dates for the annual Red/White Series on Thursday. 

The five-game series will open on Monday, Oct. 13 and conclude on the last day of fall practice on Saturday, Oct. 18.  The Sooners will also play on Oct. 14, 16 and 17 at L. Dale Mitchell Park. 

Each game of the series is set to be played in seven innings and are free and open to the public.  Dates and times are subject to change.

This marks the second consecutive year that the series will be played in the five-game format.  Prior to last season, the series consisted of three games, but was expanded to five games last fall.

The Sooners began team practices in the fall on Thursday, Sept. 4 as head coach Sunny Golloway and the rest of the coaching staff welcomed back 18 letterwinners from the 2008 team that finished 36-26-1 and lost in the NCAA Tempe Regional Final.  The squad is also accompanied by a talented group of newcomers consisting of 14 high school and junior college athletes. 

"We are looking forward to our annual Red/White series," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "It is always a highly competitive set of games and one that helps set the stage for the start of practice next semester. 

"So far, the fall sessions have been going extremely well.  We have a lot of talent returning from last year that has carried over the momentum from last season into fall practices.  And the newcomers have been solid as well."
