The No. 10-ranked University of Oklahoma baseball team looks to keep its perfect start to the 2013 season rolling when it hosts No. 29-ranked Pepperdine in a three-game weekend set at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Sooners (9-0) will take on the Waves (6-3) Friday at 3 p.m. CT in the series opener, and the two clubs are slated to lock horns Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. He struck out at least seven for the 12th time in his career and produced his second career start that yielded a shutout. The preseason All-American was named to the All-2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic Team for his efforts.
Saturday: Jr. #22 RHP Jonathan Gray (Chandler, Okla.): 2-0, 1.98 ERA, 13.2 IP, 5 BB, 12 SO Gray went seven innings and struck out six to earn the win on the hill for Oklahoma and improve to 2-0 on the season last Saturday in the win over host Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the second game of the 2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic.

Oklahoma won the 2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic with a perfect 3-0 record on the weekend. The Sooners topped Iowa, 3-1, on Friday before taking down host Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 4-2, Saturday and coming from behind to beat New Mexico, 10-8, on Sunday.
Oklahoma visits UT Arlington next Tuesday in its first midweek road contest of the 2013 season.

Five Sooners batted .300 or better during the 2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic, including junior infielder Matt Oberste (.417), senior infielder Jack Mayfield (.385), senior outfielder/infielder Max White (.364), junior infielder Hector Lorenzana (.333) and freshman outfielder Craig Aikin (.308).
OU pounded out a season-high 14 hits as a team in the 10-8 come-from-behind win over New Mexico on Sunday.
The Sooners did a solid job of manufacturing runs all weekend, tallying nine stolen bases as a team.
On the season, Oklahoma is hitting .311 with 29 extra base hits and 54 RBI as a team.

OBERSTE NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK AGAIN
Junior infielder Matt Oberste was named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week on Monday, marking the first time a Sooner has earned back-to-back conference player of the week honors since Garrett Buechele achieved the feat in 2011.
Oberste continued his white-hot start to the 2013 season, helping the Sooners go 5-0 last week to open the 2013 campaign with a perfect 9-0 mark. Oberste hit .450 with a team-high nine hits - including two doubles and two home runs - to go along with a team-high eight RBI and four runs scored. He earned All-2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic Team honors after batting a team-best .417 with five hits - including a double and a home run - to go along with five RBI and a run scored over three games at the weekend classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Oberste is batting a team-best .441 on the season and leads the Big 12 with 15 hits, three home runs, 17 RBI, 29 total bases and a slugging percentage of .853. He has hit safely in all nine games this season and 12 consecutive games dating back to the 2012 season. The Salisaw, Okla., native tallied three multi-hit and multi-RBI games last week and leads OU with five multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games in 2013.
NEWCOMERS MAKING AN IMPACT
Six newcomers -- including four freshmen -- have seen plenty of playing time early in the season and have helped the Sooners roll to a 6-0 start to begin 2013.
Junior infielder Hector Lorenzana, a transfer from Howard College, has started all nine games at second base and is hitting .324 with 11 hits -- including three doubles and a home run -- to go along with four RBI and seven runs scored.
Freshman outfielder Craig Aikin has made nine starts in center field and has made several spectacular catches to rob the opposition of extra bases and runs. Aikin was named to the All-2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic Team for his efforts defensively last week.
Freshman infielder/outfielder Hunter Haley has appeared in all nine games with five starts and is hitting .400 with six hits -- including a double and a triple -- to go along with three RBI and four runs scored.
Freshman infielder Kolbey Carpenter has made six starts and is batting .269 with seven hits -- including two doubles and two triples -- to go along with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Freshman catcher Anthony Hermelyn has played in eight games with six starts and has driven in five runs.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder Colt Bickerstaff has started six games and has tallied a double and two runs scored.
With so many news faces on the fielder for the Sooners in 2013 seniors Max White and Jack Mayfield, along with fellow co-captains Dillon Overton and Jonathan Gray, have been tasked with providing a steady hand to help lead the ballclub in 2013.
White is hitting .394 with 13 hits, six RBI and eight runs scored while Mayfield is hitting .308 with 12 hits -- including two doubles -- to go along with five RBI and 12 runs scored. Mayfield was named the MVP of the 2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic last weekend after hitting .385 with five hits and three RBI. He crushed a three-run home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the eighth inning to push Oklahoma to its ninth straight win to open the 2013 season courtesy of a 10-8 come-from-behind victory over New Mexico. White also enjoyed a strong weekend, hitting .364 with four hits and three RBI.
Senior infielder Garrett Carey is also making an impact as a veteran in the lineup, batting .310 with nine hits -- including two doubles and a triple -- to go along with three RBI and seven runs scored.
While newcomers are making their impact felt throughout the OU lineup, they are also making their mark out of the bullpen.
Redshirt sophomore righty Robert Tasin has tallied two saves in four appearances and has a perfect 0.00 ERA.
Freshman southpaw Jacob Evans has totaled two saves and struck out five while walking none over 4.2 frames of work.
Junior lefty Ethan Carnes has struck out six while walking just one over 4.2 innings.
Freshman right-hander Ralph Garza, Jr., earned his first collegiate victory on the mound, striking out two over the final 2.1 frames of OU's 10-8 comeback win over New Mexico last Sunday in the third game of the 2013 Kleberg Bank College Classic.
