NORMAN, Okla. -- Head coach Sunny Golloway recently met with SoonerSports.com to talk about the baseball program's newest addition, OU's brand new practice facility.
The project, which was completed shortly after the new year, includes a 5,160 square-foot indoor hitting/pitching facility and a full-size practice infield.
The building contains three full-size pitching and hitting lanes and is heated and air conditioned.
The $1 million project covers 22,500 square feet of existing ground at L. Dale Mitchell Park and is located down the left-field line adjacent to the Sooners’ bullpen.

The Sooners are the only baseball program in the Big 12 to have a full-size infield, in addition to current playing field, available for player development and one of the few across the country in Division I baseball.
L. Dale Mitchell Park also recently added a state-of-the-art sound system to enhance the fan experience at Sooner baseball games.
"These new additions provide the University of Oklahoma with some of the best practice facilities in the country," said Golloway. "The impact is going to be evident over the course of time, but we already feel it has helped us immensely in helping develop our current players."
OU has already logged nearly a full week of team practices after holding its first session on Sunday, Feb. 1. The Sooners, recently ranked No. 16 in Baseball America's preseason poll, will begin the season at home on Friday, Feb. 20 against Western Illinois.
The season opener is the first of four games set to be played at L. Dale Mitchell Park that weekend against the Leathernecks. The last time OU opened the season at home was during the 2003 season.
