NORMAN, Okla. -- Ross Hubbard's sacrifice fly capped a three-run sixth inning and No. 9 Oklahoma (42-18) rallied for a 5-4 win over Wichita State in the first round of the NCAA Baseball Regional in Norman.

A capacity crowd of 3,176 saw the game, the fifth best mark at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Garrett Buechele scored on Hubbard's fly after he drove in the tying runs with a two-run single earlier in the frame.

Wichita State (30-26) led 4-1 after three innings and chased OU ace Andrew Doyle after just two and two-thirds innings of work, his shortest start of the season.

The comeback victory was OU's 22nd of the season and 86th under head coach Sunny Golloway.

"I thought our guys did a great job in response to being behind," said Golloway. "It is always a tremendous amount of pressure when you are a host at a regional site. I really thought we played well. I thought we took a really good punch from a pretty good baseball team and we responded when we had to. "

Chase Anderson came on to pitch five and one-third scoreless innings before Ryan Duke came on to record his 16th save. Anderson got the win to move to 3-1 and tied his longest outing of the season recorded three weeks ago against Oklahoma State.

The Sooners' bullpen put together another strong outing and limited the Shockers to two hits over the final 6 1/3 innings.  Anderson and Duke also struck out a combined eight batters.

WSU starter Tim Kelly was strong in five and two-thirds innings, but was touched up in the sixth and wound up surrendering all of OU's runs. His record dropped to 5-4.

The Sooners hit a pair of home runs, a first-inning, opposite field shot by lead-off hitter Jamie Johnson, and a long ball to dead center by Aaron Baker in the fourth. Baker finished with a game-high two hits and also scored two runs.

Oklahoma has won seven straight over Wichita State and is 4-1 in NCAA postseason play against the Shockers.  In addition, OU is 8-2 under Golloway when facing WSU.

Oklahoma, the No. 7 national seed, now advances in the winner's bracket to take on Arkansas. Those two collide at 7 p.m., on Saturday in Norman. The loser's bracket game at 1 p.m., will feature Wichita State and Washington State.
