NORMAN, Okla. --
The No. 15 Sooners won their fourth straight game and eighth out of the last 10 on Wednesday with a 13-1 victory at home over Texas Southern.

The game was added to the schedule after two games against Baylor were rained out back in March. OU finished the home slate with a 22-6 record and improved to 39-14 overall. Texas Southern dropped to 28-24 in the first meeting with the Sooners.

Freshman hurler Ryan Gibson improved to 5-2 with a five-inning start that included five strikeouts and the Sooner offense pounded 17 hits, including three home runs.

"We can do different things and put pressure on them early," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway when asked about the Sooners' offensive attack.

Just like the five previous games, OU jumped on top early with Cody Reine's RBI single and then never looked back, plating three runs in the third, two in the fourth, four in the fifth and three more in the seventh.

Cody Reine (2-for-2, three RBIs) and Caleb Bushyhead (3-for-3, three runs) paced the offense that has scored 10 or more runs in seven of the last 14 games. Bushyhead extended his career-high hitting streak to 15 games with the single in the first inning.

In the fourth, freshman Max White hit his 13th homer of the year, tied for the team lead with Cameron Seitzer, and Elliott Blair and Ricky Eisenberg later added home runs in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively. OU has homered in each of the last 11 games with 27 in that span.

Gibson became the fourth straight starting pitcher to earn the victory for the Sooners. The scoreless start came two weeks after he struggled against Arkansas-Little Rock.

"Ryan was very good. He set the tone for us," added Golloway.

Texas Southern starter Dakota Laufenberg did not fare as well. The hurler lasted four innings and fell to 6-2 after allowing nine runs off six hits.

The Sooners will conclude the regular season in a crucial three-game series at Kansas. Oklahoma sits in third place in the Big 12 standings ahead of Texas Tech, but a productive weekend could propel it ahead of Kansas State.

Friday's series opener is slated for a 7 p.m. first pitch and can be heard on the Sooner Sports Network, KREF 1400 AM.
