TULSA, Okla. -- Andrew Heaney tossed his Big 12-leading fourth complete game to lead No. 25 Oklahoma State to a 3-0 victory over No. 26 Oklahoma on Friday in the Bedlam Series opener in front of 9,158 fans at OneOK Field.

The loss dropped the Sooners to 29-18 overall and 9-9 in Big 12 play while the Cowboys improved to 27-17 and 12-7.

The Cowboys struck first in the third with a pair of two-out singles off OU starter Jordan John.

OSU extended its lead to three runs with a RBI single in the bottom of the fifth off Hunter Bailey’s bat.

John tossed his fourth complete game of the year to match Heaney (7-1) but fell to 8-5 after giving up three runs off seven hits and three walks. John struck out five batters but Heaney struck out seven with one walk and three hits allowed in his third shutout of the season.

One of the Sooners’ three hits was a single by Max White in the third inning. The base knock extended his hitting streak to 10 games (career high), which includes eight multi-hit games.

“Andrew Heaney is really tough,” said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. “It comes back to us having discipline at the plate. We offered at too many pitches out of the zone.

“I have to tip my cap to Andrew Heaney, he pitched his tail off. But I thought Jordan John did too. Oklahoma State just strung it together.”

The Bedlam Series shifts to Oklahoma City on Saturday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (4 p.m.) at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Both games can be heard on the Sooner Sports Network KREF 1400 AM.
