LOS ANGELES -- The No. 10-ranked University of Oklahoma baseball team dropped a 5-3 decision to USC Friday at Dedeaux Field.
The Sooners (11-3) dropped their second contest in a row.
The Trojans (7-6) overcame a 3-1 deficit by plating a run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth. USC tacked on an insurance score in the eighth.
Junior left-handed starting pitcher Dillon Overton suffered his first loss of the 2013 season, falling to 4-1 on the season. He fanned four over eight innings.
Junior infielder Matt Oberste led the Sooners at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He has now hit safely in 17 consecutive games dating back to the 2012 season. Oberste has tallied a team-high seven multi-hit games in 2013. Freshman catcher Anthony Hermelyn went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Oklahoma looks to return to its winning ways when it visits UCLA Saturday at Jackie Robinson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
