DALLAS, Texas -- The No. 15 University of Oklahoma baseball team saw solid pitching and plenty of offense on Tuesday night at Dallas Baptist as it improved to 12-1 with an 8-4 victory.

J.R. Robinson turned in the longest outing by a Sooner in 2010 with a career-high 7 1/3 and also struck out a career-best eight batters as he received plenty of run support off 13 OU hits. Robinson retired the first 11 batters he faced and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.

Ryan Duke recorded his sixth save of the season (22nd of career) with just 1/3 of an inning on Tuesday. Duke, who leads the Big 12 in saves, came into the ball game with the tying run in the on deck circle for DBU and forced Josh Wilson to ground into an inning ending fielder's choice.

The Sooners have won seven straight games and are off to their best start since the 1998 when that OU team began 12-1.

"Before the game we talked about J.R. and our offense getting off to a good start and those two things clicked for us," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. "J.R. was masterful today and we got two big home runs from two of our veterans in Buechele and Hubbard."

As Robinson (1-1) cruised to the victory with three runs allowed off five hits and a walk, the Sooners pounded five extra base hits, including a pair of home runs. The offense collected 10 or more hits for the ninth time this season and held a seven-hit advantage over Dallas Baptist (7-5).

Garrett Buechele again led the offensive charge and hit his fifth homer of the season to give the Sooners a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The longball cleared the center field wall scored Chris Ellison (2-for-3, two runs, two RBIs) who walked to lead off the game. Later in the frame, Caleb Bushyhead staked OU to a 3-0 lead on a double to the wall down the left-field line.

Chris Ellison's sacrifice fly in the second pushed the Sooners cushion to four runs in the second inning.

In the third inning, Ross Hubbard after became the 12th different Sooner to clear the fences with a two-run, one out, shot to right field. The blast ended DBU starter Chris Haney's (0-2) start after 2 1/3 innings of work. OU has produced three straight games with multi-homer games and six straight games with at least one roundtripper.

Hubbard's homer gave Robinson a 6-0 lead to work and it wasn't until the fourth inning when the Patriots capitalized on a mistake by the hurler. Jason Krizan took Robinson deep to center field in the bottom of the fourth and broke up the perfect-game bid.

Buechele later added a single in the fourth for his 10th multi-hit game of the young season (23 last season).

The home team inched closer with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 6-2 after Austin Knight's third dinger of the year.

The teams exchanged a pair of runs in the eighth inning after OU connected on back-to-back RBI singles by Ellison and Casey Johnson.

In the bottom half of the frame, the Sooners surrendered their third home run of the game on Ryan Enos' two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth off Anthony Collazo, who struck out three and allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings.

Oklahoma returns to Norman for a 3 p.m. showdown with Houston Baptist (4-5) on Wednesday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The game will be broadcast live for free on SoonerSports.com and marks the first of 19 home games set to be televised by the Sooner Sports Network on Cox Channel 7 in Oklahoma City and Channel 3 in Tulsa. A webcast of the game will also be available on Oklahoma All-Access, SoonerSports.com's premium site.
