NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 16 Oklahoma baseball team posted a 5-4 victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday to complete the two-game sweep. The Sooners won 9-4 on Tuesday afternoon.

The fifth-straight win for the Sooners improved their overall mark to 9-3 while the Lions dropped to 1-12. OU has won all 10 meetings in the series with UAPB.

The visiting Lions tied it at one run apiece in the top of the fourth off OU starter Jacob Rhame, but the Sooners countered with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. In that inning, OU scored off a bases loaded wild pitch from Brett Schweiger (0-2), who took the loss after giving up a two-run single to Max White.

Rhame recorded his first career win with five solid innings with one run allowed off three hits and three strikeouts and zero walks.

"Jacob got our attention today," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway. "He is a guy that is in the mix for a midweek starting role and someone we hope can help us on the weekend. He pitched well today."

Evan Mistich increased the Sooner advantage to 5-1 with his second home run of the year, a solo shot to left field in the fifth inning.

The Lions rallied late but Jordan John made his seventh appearance of the season and recorded his second save with 1 2/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts.

"We have to continue to get better," added Golloway. "We will face some strong competition in Oregon, which should help prepare us as the Big 12 portion of the schedule is right around the corner."

OU flies to Oregon for the Nike College Showcase this weekend. In Eugene, OU will play Connecticut (March 9) and a day/night doubleheader against West Virginia and Oregon (March 10). On Sunday, March 11, OU plays at Oregon State in Corvallis.
