NORMAN, Okla. -- The 14th-ranked University of Oklahoma baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating Hofstra 3-2 Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
 
Junior RHP Jonathan Gray struck out six batters over 6.2 innings and surrendered just three hits, earning the win for the Sooners. Coming in to relieve Gray, senior LHP Jake Fisher sat down two batters in two innings of play.
 
Junior second baseman Hector Lorenza blasted a home run to left field in the fourth inning, which proved to be the difference in the one-run game.
 
Senior third baseman Garrett Carey contributed a career-high four hits and an RBI in the victory, and freshman catcher Anthony Hermelyn also added an RBI.
