NORMAN,Okla. - Oklahoma redshirt senior Bill Kogel has earned Big 12 Runner of the Week honors following his performance at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational last weekend the Big 12 announced yesterday.
It is the first weekly award for Kogel, and the first honor for an Oklahoma male runner since 2007.
Kogel led the Sooners at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational last weekend in Charlottesville, Va. The redshirt senior crossed the line second with a time of 24:11 and helped the Crimson and Cream bring home a victory.
The Sioux Falls, S.D., native began his 2012 campaign with a kick, as last weekend's run was the first of the season for the Sooner All-American.
Kogel and the rest of the OU men's cross country team will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 12, in Madison, Wis., at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
