NORMAN, Okla. --The University of Oklahoma men’s cross country team will start the 2010 season ranked No. 12 nationally in rankings provided Tuesday by the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA). The team was also tabbed No. 2 in the Midwest Region preseason ranking.
The Oklahoma men’s squad is coming off an accomplished season last year that saw the team finish 12th at the NCAA National Championships, second at the NCAA Midwest Regional and record its highest finish ever at the Big 12 Championship in third. The entire men’s team returns from last season, including Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Bill Kogel, and fellow All-Midwest Region honorees Kevin Schwab, Rob Sorrell and Jeremy Sudbury.
Last season the Sooners were unranked in the preseason national poll, but finished the 2009 campaign at No. 12.
The 2010 cross country season begins this Saturday, in Tulsa, Okla., at the Hurricane Cross Country Festival.
