NORMAN, Okla. — Five members of the Oklahoma men’s track and field program were named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Track and Field Team the organization announced Thursday. Eric Bailey, D’Andre Fisher, Rob Sorrell, Jeremy Sudbury and Kevin Williams were all named to the team after top performances on and off the track throughout the 2010 season. The Oklahoma men were second among all schools in the Big 12 with the five athletes on the team while Nebraska lead the conference with eight.

Thursday’s honor marked the latest in many for the Oklahoma men’s program. Bailey was previously named Academic-All District by ESPN the Magazine and CoSIDA while he along with Fisher, Sorrell and Williams were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team.  All five athletes qualified for the NCAA Championship preliminary rounds with Bailey advancing to the NCAA Championships where he finished 12th in the 400-meter hurdles.

Thursday’s accomplishment came one day after the USTFCCCA named five Oklahoma women to its women’s All-Academic Team.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.

Institutions given All-Academic Team status will be named on Monday, August 2 (men) and Wednesday, March 3 (women).
