NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma redshirt senior Tia Brooks is one of 10 student-athletes on the 2013 Bowerman Watch List, the second of the 2013 regular season, it was announced Thursday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The award, track and field's equivalent of the Heisman, is presented to the nation's top track and field athlete over both the indoor and outdoor season.

Brooks has won 10 of her last 11 shot put events dating back to the 2012 indoor season, including nine wins in the 2013 indoor season. In her 2013 season debut she collected a mark of 61-3.75 (17.86m), which remains the leading throw in the NCAA, and puts her as the only collegiate woman to surpass 60 feet on the season.

Additionally, she owns the top 11 collegiate throws of 2013, and leads the nation by more than three feet in the shot put.

The Grand Rapids, Mich., will return to action for the NCAA Championships after she eclipsed her own Big 12 meet record and shattered a 15-year standing distance at Iowa State's Lied Recreation Athletic Center when she threw her fourth shot of a 60-9.25 (18.52m) at the Big 12 Track and Field Championships for the win. With the performance, Brooks claimed her third-straight indoor title in the shot put at the conference meet.

The Sooners will conclude the 2013 indoor season March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Randal Tyson Track Center for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Arkansas. Select OU representatives will take to the track this weekend at a regional site for a Last Chance Qualifier meet.
