Several Sooners took to both the track and field on Friday night.

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma track and field team was in contest across the United States with active competitions in New York, N.Y., Wichita, Kan., and Lincoln, Neb., on Friday evening. Several Sooners matched personal-best performances, and achieved top-three finishes on the night.
On hand at the New Balance Invitational in New York, were several Oklahoma sprinters.
Freshman Daunica Demerson was the lone Oklahoma representative to finish in the top 10 at ‘The Armory’ after she crossed the finish line in 1:26.47 in the women’s 500-meter championship dash. It was a personal-best performance for Demerson who made her collegiate debut in the event.
Ebanga Arrey, a fellow freshman, also made her collegiate debut in the women’s 500-meter dash with a 1:16.72 to finish 11th in the collegiate competition at the New Balance Invitational. Redshirt Junior Alisa Jenkins added another personal-best performance for the Sooners with a 25.89 finish in the 200-meter dash collegiate competition.
Freshman Mar-Keo Jones also made a statement for Oklahoma in the men’s 60-meter championship dash at ‘The Armory’ with the first sub 7.00 second performance of his career when he stopped the clock at 6.98. Jones finished 38th in the preliminary rounds of the event.
Meanwhile, at the Varsity Apartments Invitational in Wichita, Kan., several Sooners collected top-five finishes.
Freshman pole vaulter Rachel Bolton was the first of two OU winners on the night, after she cleared 12-4.75/3.78 meters to win the event, while Landon Sharp was Oklahoma’s second and final first-place finisher after he cleared 6-9.75 in the men’s high jump competition.
A pair of weight throwers, Sarah Tolson and Brooke Garner, finished third (55-03.50/16.85m) and fourth (53-01.00/16.18m), respectively, in their competition at the Varsity Apartments Invitational.
Redshirt junior Jeremy Rankin clocked in at 6.71 in the men’s 60-meter dash at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., to finish seventh in the preliminary heat and advance to Saturday’s finals.
The Sooners will conclude both the New Balance and Varity Apartments Invitational tomorrow evening, with select runners competing in the Meyo Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Rankin will also run in the final heat at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
