PASADENA, Calif. – University of Oklahoma junior Riley Masters broke his own record in the men’s 1,500-meter Friday evening, running 3 minutes 37.19 seconds to finish 14th in the event at the USATF Oxy High Performance Meet. Masters was the top collegiate finisher in the race that featured several high-caliber professional athletes, including several 2012 Olympic hopefuls.

The mark meets the Olympic Trials A standard (3:39.00) in the event to qualify him for the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials June 22-July 1 in Eugene, Ore., as well as the Olympic B standard (3:38.00). Masters’ time breaks his previous program record of 3:41.80 set earlier this season. It’s the second fastest time by a collegian this year.
