Matt Roberts joined the University of Oklahoma staff in January of 2004 as the director of marketing and now serves as the associate athletics director for development.
As the director of marketing, Roberts directed the marketing staff and all its initiatives, setting attendance records for football and steering the marketing efforts that have led to OU women's basketball to the top three in national attendance.
In July of 2006, Roberts made the move from marketing to development as the director of athletics development overseeing the Sooner Club and annual giving campaign before being promoted to assistant athletics director for development in 2008. His primary responsibility is the overall administration and leadership of the athletics development office, including oversight of the Sooner Club, major gift and endowment programs.

Under his guidance, the Sooner Club set all-time highs in annual donations for four consecutive years, culminating with $19.4 million in 2009. Membership numbers also hit an all-time high with 10,358 members during 2009.
During this time, OU Athletics has raised over $27 million in philanthropic gifts to support capital improvements and scholarship endowments. Capital projects of note include the Gregg Wadley Tennis Pavilion, indoor batting cages for baseball and softball as well as major renovations of McCasland Field House, Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Viersen Gymnastics Center, Charlie Coe Center, football locker room and men's basketball locker room.
Prior to arriving in Norman, Roberts served as assistant director of marketing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 2001-2003, he coordinated the marketing for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball and men's and women's lacrosse. Before moving to marketing, Matt served one year in the UNC ticket office as the assistant ticket manager.
A 1997 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Roberts holds a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports sciences. While at North Carolina, he was a walk-on pitcher for the Tar Heels and finished his college career as an undergraduate assistant coach, working with the Tar Heel pitching staff. He later attended Ohio University and earned a master's of sports administration in 1999.
