 Guided a running back group in 2012 that produced four 100-yard rushing games. JUCO transfer Damien Williams earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors under his tutelage and was the only NCAA player with four runs of over 65 yards on the season.
In 2011, his group overcame injuries to accumulate 1,845 yards on 357 carries (5.2 yards per carry) and 15 TDs. Transformed walk-on Dominique Whaley into the leading rusher, including three 100-yard outings, despite only playing seven games.
The 2010 season featured the record-setting exploits of DeMarco Murray, who broke Steve Owens' 41-year-old OU record for career touchdowns and Joe Washington's 35-year-old mark for all-purpose yards. Murray also set a career standard for receiving yards by a running back at Oklahoma and cracked the career top 10 rushing list.
Saw Chris Brown and Murray become the first OU players on the same roster to eclipse 40 career TDs during the 2009 season. The duo also became the sixth pair in school history to rush for over 2,000 career yards.
In 2008, OU had two 1,000-yard rushers in Murray and Brown. OU rushed for 205.5 yards per game and had 4.8 yards per carry.
The 2007 season saw three different backs eclipse the 500-yard mark, led by Allen Patrick with 1,097. Two logged
100-yard games. Murray was a Freshman All-American. OU rushed for 190.7 yards per game.
In 2006, three different OU running backs logged 100-yard games, including true freshman Brown, as the team piled up 177.4 rushing yards per game.
In 2005, coached his third 1,000-yard rusher and saw two different backs log 100-yard games for second straight season.
In 2004, Adrian Peterson, who set school season record and NCAA freshman rushing record with 1,925 yards.
Also tutored Kejuan Jones, who rushed for more than 2,000 yards during his career.
Adept at securing the ball, Gundy's 2004 backs logged 48 receptions for 377 yards and rarely lost a fumble (OU lost only nine as a team).
Coached 2003 OU backs to 1,896 yards. The backfield hauled in 54 passes for three TDs. Oklahoma's running backs were charged with just two fumbles lost.
No OU back lost a fumble in 2002 and there were only two in 2001.
Coached Quentin Griffin, who finished as the No. 2 rusher in OU history. In 2002, he gained 1,884 yards (No. 6 NCAA/134.6 yards per game). Griffin, a consensus All-Big 12 first team selection, became the Sooners' first 1,000-yard rusher since 1998 and finished his career as the school's second leading receiver. He caught one pass in an OU record 29 consecutive games.
In 2000, OU backs produced 32 rushing TDs, up from 15 in 1999. First team All-Big 12 Griffin scored 16 of those, including six against Texas to set a Sooner record.

Paced the Sooners to a 31-13-2 record in his four
seasons and was all-conference as a senior.
One of only four OU quarterbacks to throw for more
than 4,000 yards (Bradford, Heupel, White).
