Oklahoma's Headington Family Tennis Center is one of the top facilities not only in the Big 12 Conference but in the entire nation. The complex was completed in 2001 through generous donations from the Headington family and others.

The facility spans 12 championship courts divided into four quadrants. There have been several additions to the facility including a sound system, electronic scoreboards and benches on all 12 courts.

The Headington Family Tennis Center has served host to a numerous championship events including the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Regionals and the 2004 and 2009 Big 12 Tennis Championships.

The center is named in honor of a leadership gift from 1972 University of Oklahoma graduate and tennis letterwinner Timothy C. Headington.

Mr. Headington, President and CEO of Headington Oil Company in Dallas, earned his bacholor's degree in history at OU, followed by graduate degrees in theology and psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Los Angeles, Calif.

He asked that the tennis center honor his family, including his father, the late Clare W. Headington who, with Tim's uncle J. Edward Headington, formed Headington Oil Company; his mother Catherine Headington, brother Gregory Headington, both of Dallas; and his sister Jeanette Martin of Tulsa, Okla.

The indoor facility, located just to the east of the Headington Family Tennis Center outdoor courts, was completed in the spring of 2009 and dedicated on September 11, 2009.

Highlights of the new, 55,000 square-foot facility include six air-conditioned courts, championship-quality lighting and surface, and approximately 375 chair-back seats for spectators (elevated between courts). Read More >>
