Career Services

The University of Oklahoma Athletic Student Life Office, with the assistance of the Kerr Sooner Career Center, offers a variety of career development opportunities for OU student-athletes.
 
Located in the nationally renowned Prentice Gautt Academic Center, the Kerr Sooner Career Center provides a system of services that educates and guides student-athletes through the career development process into their post-collegiate careers.

The center makes career information available through a number of print and web-based publications to assist student-athletes in making decisions about their academic majors and career paths, and to support their efforts to secure internships and employment.

We also facilitate learning opportunities for our student-athletes to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in today's competitive work environment. There is consultation available daily to bolster our student-athletes' ability to write effective resumes and research various employment opportunities.
 
In addition, we also emphasize the importance of interviewing through mock interviews and interviewing workshops throughout the academic year. If graduate school is an option, the Career Center has an extensive collection of testing and graduate materials that will allow student-athletes to adequately prepare for the demands of post-undergraduate education.
 

Employment Issues

All student-athletes who are employed during their eligibility must operate in accordance with NCAA bylaws and interpretations. Student-athletes and employers must have a responsibility to complete information requested by the Career Center Coordinator and the University's Athletic Compliance Department regarding employment activities. 
 
This information will also be monitored during employment. School year employment may not exceed specified values. Pell Grant aid could be affected by working income. To learn more about employment as an OU student-athlete, visit the Kerr Sooner Career Center or call (405) 325-8384 for more information.
 

Location & Hours

The Kerr Sooner Career Center is located in the Prentice Gautt Academic Center in the north section of Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or by appointment.
