NORMAN – Oklahoma gymnast Brian Schibler has been named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District first team, the organization announced Thursday. Schibler is one of eight Big 12 student-athletes that collected the honor.

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Teams are selected by CoSIDA and recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and academics. 2019 marks the second consecutive season Schibler has earned Academic All-District honors. CoSIDA will announce the Academic All-America teams in June. Last season the Chesterfield, Mo., native garnered second-team All-America accolades.

The recent OU graduate, who double majored in biomedical sciences and Spanish, finished the year with a cumulative 4.00 grade point average. He is one of 40 NCAA Division I first-team all-district honorees with a perfect GPA.

A pommel horse specialist, Schibler competed in all 11 meets in 2019. He earned his first career All-America honor at the NCAA Championships, taking seventh on pommel horse at the meet following exceptional sets of 13.933 and 13.766 in prelims and team finals.

Additionally, Schibler garnered multiple conference academic honors in 2019. He was named an MPSF Scholar Athlete and a member of the Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team at the conclusion of the season.
