NORMAN, Okla. - In an era when consumer costs seem to escalate daily, the University of Oklahoma athletics department announced today that men's basketball ticket prices will not increase for the 2008-09 season.

Already priced in the lower half of the Big 12 Conference last year and representing one of the best values for any prominent Division I program, OU season ticket packages are again offered at three levels -- "Premier" seating ($490 per seat), "Preferred" seating ($325) and "Sooner Saver" seating ($190). Ticket renewal applications were mailed to season-ticket holders Monday.

All three levels are priced the same as last year and for the same number of games (19).  Premier and Preferred seating packages actually cost less than they did two years ago, while the Sooner Saver package is the least expensive it's been this decade.

"Coach Jeff Capel and his staff have done a marvelous job building our men's basketball program, resulting in ever-increasing fan excitement as we approach a new season," said OU director of athletics Joe Castiglione.  "We've taken aggressive steps to enhance an already good ticket value by avoiding a price increase for our patrons and improving our in-game experience."

Capel's Sooners, who finished 23-12 last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, return four starters, including preseason first-team All-American Blake Griffin.  The arrival of McDonald's All-American Willie Warren and five other newcomers has helped OU achieve preseason top-25 status, with one outlet pegging the team at No. 7 nationally.

A season ticket for Sooner basketball is the only way for fans to guarantee themselves a seat for marquee games versus USC, Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma State.  Buying a season ticket may also provide the possibility for purchasing tickets to the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.  In addition, season ticket purchasers gain access to OU's unique Ticket Sharing program, which affords account holders the ability to electronically transfer their tickets for any game to a fan of their choice.

Deadline for season ticket renewal is Sept. 24.  Non-season-ticket holders may apply for season tickets, but locations for those customers won't be determined until the renewal process is completed.  For questions and to submit new season ticket orders, fans may call the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 456-4668 or (405) 325-2424, or can click here.
