Sooner Magic Begins with You
Every magical moment, every victory and every championship is because of you.
On behalf of all student-athletes at the University of Oklahoma, read a personal 'Thank You' message from a member of each of OU's three national championship teams in 2015-16.
Erin Miller | Softball
Dear Sooner Club members,
My name is Erin Miller. I just completed my four years as a member of the OU Women's Softball team and still have one year of school before I graduate with my bachelors in Graphic Design. Firstly, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support in OU Athletics. Without your funding and support, neither I nor any other student-athlete here would have the ability to live out the dream of playing as a collegiate athlete.
Having a scholarship at the University of Oklahoma has been life changing. It's been a blessing to me and my family. The fact that I was chosen out of thousands of athletes around the United States to represent the Oklahoma Sooners still feels like a dream. Now, four years later, I can say that I have two national titles and four Big 12 Championships while playing here. *chill bumps* Without you all, I would not be able to say that. Scholarships change lives. Getting an education creates opportunities. YOU make that happen.
After winning a national championship with my team, especially as a senior, I felt so thankful. More than any other emotion or feeling, all I felt was gratitude. I was thankful for the people who helped myself and all of my teammates along the way. That championship was most definitely not won by just the girls on the field. It took an army. You were most definitely a part of that army. Our team is so grateful for you. We take so much pride in our "Championship Mindset" because that is the ultimate payback for everything you've provided for us. We won this title in appreciation for everyone who has supported us the entire way. This title is for YOU.
Not only did OU Softball have a winning season, but so did Women's AND Men's Gym, Men's Basketball, Men's Tennis, and Football; the list goes on and on. The Sooner tradition and expectation of excellence runs through each and every sport on campus. This isn't just luck; this is driven by leadership, being surrounded by quality people, and most importantly it's driven by a blue collar work ethic. That's what being a Sooner is all about. The work we put in is measured is the results we receive. These are lessons I will carry with me the rest of my life.
I want to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. Your support does NOT go unnoticed. From the bottom of my heart, my family and I thank you.

Dear Sooner Club members,
When I took the recruiting trip to Oklahoma, I knew this was a superior environment that would help me achieve my goals. I was offered and accepted an athletic scholarship to do what I love.
Although I have just completed my freshman year, I have learned an incredible amount about my sport, my academics and myself over the last year.
I trained for years to be good enough to be offered a scholarship to attend a university. It was important to me to find a program that would offer me the opportunity to train and compete in a world-class program. I also knew I wanted to use the resources of the university to make an impact in my sport, in school, in the community and, I hope, in the world.
Oklahoma is the premier program in the country, and the support that the Sooner Club provides is what gives the program the tools it need to be so vibrant.
Because the financial aspect of my college experience was taken care of, I was able to focus on what is important this year. I concentrated on training, classes and competition without the stress of wondering how I would manage my finances. I could take time to engage with the community and offer my time and energy to help those around me.
My first year was phenomenal. The friends that I have made and the comradery of the team are unforgettable. I did not realize when I arrived how important the success of the sports program is to the University. As the year went on, I gained an appreciation of how import it is and what a large impact we can have on our community, our state and on the international stage.
I was proud to contribute to a national championship this year and what was ever better was that on the same night that we won, our sisters, who we train with in the gym, won a national championship, and our club team did as well.
Thanks to the Sooner Club for allowing me to reach toward not only my sports goals, but also my educational goals!

Dear Sooner Club members,
As soon as I stepped onto the University of Oklahoma's campus, I knew it was where I belonged.
When K.J. Kindler offered me a scholarship, it was the best day of my life. I was thrilled that I would have the privilege to wear a Crimson and Cream leotard and represent OU.
These past four years were filled with so many great memories that I will never forget. I want to thank you all for the money and support you all have graciously given to OU athletics, giving many student-athletes the opportunity to receive a scholarship. You all have given me, along with many other student-athletes, the chance to fulfill my dream of participating in college athletics.
Coming in third place in the 2015 season gave us more motivation as a team to work harder to achieve our goal of winning another national championship. All the hard work and long hours we put in as a team, along with it being my senior season, made winning nationals that much more special and rewarding. I could not be more proud of my teammates for all that we accomplished this year.
My favorite moment in Sooner athletics other than us winning the national title was the men's gymnastics team winning as well. It was so exciting that we were able to share our title with them and become the first university to win a national championship in both men's and women's gymnastics in the same year.
I am so proud to be a Sooner and I have enjoyed watching and partaking in all the accomplishments of Sooner athletics. Now as an OU gymnastics alum I look forward to watching all the successes of Sooner athletics yet to come!
