NORMAN – After a year that included four team national championships, five individual NCAA titles and four team conference crowns, the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is announcing its Sooner Caravan: Night of Champions celebration. The event will take place on Friday, Aug. 18, at the Chevy Bricktown Events Center in Oklahoma City.
Night of Champions will incorporate elements of usual Sooner Caravan outings while featuring a special program focusing on the most successful year in OU athletics history.
Doors open for the event at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets costs $25 and include a BBQ dinner. A cash bar will be available. Fans can also opt to purchase a table (10 seats) closer to the stage for $300. Tickets and tables are available online or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424.
Head football coach Lincoln Riley, head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale and head softball coach Patty Gasso will sign autographs (limit one item per person) starting at approximately 6:15 p.m. The trio, along with head men's golf coach Ryan Hybl, head men's tennis coach Nick Crowell, will also publicly discuss the Sooners' recent athletics accomplishments, numerous national titles and the outlook for the upcoming year.
2016-17 was a year filled with Sooner Magic for the University of Oklahoma athletics department. Oklahoma captured NCAA team titles in men's golf, men's gymnastics, women's gymnastics and softball while claiming five individual NCAA championships and its 10th Big 12 football title. The 2016-17 season continued a consistent string of success, marking OU's second straight year with at least three titles for and fifth consecutive year of at least one national championship.
Fans will also have opportunities to take photos with the NCAA championship trophies, the OU spirit squad, the Pride of Oklahoma and live mascots Boomer and Sooner.
Free parking will be available in the Chevy Bricktown Events Center parking lot.
