NORMAN – No. 22/21 Oklahoma women's basketball earned an 86-64 victory over Central Oklahoma on Friday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

Eight Sooners scored in Friday's exhibition matchup, led by freshman Ana Llanusa’s 20 points and senior Gabbi Ortiz’s 18. Llanusa shined in her first game as a Sooner, knocking down nine field goals on 21 attempts. The freshman scored 11 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter on 5-of-8 shooting.

Ortiz showcased her skill from deep, hitting six 3-pointers. The senior’s six treys would have matched her regular-season career high, which came in 2015 against UTSA.

“We did a lot of good things and we’ve got to learn from a lot of things, but there were no unfixable errors tonight,” OU head coach Sherri Coale said. ”We’ve got a lot of good parts and people playing really hard, and I think you could see that everybody we put on the floor is going to be able to impact the game in a positive way.”

Freshman Mandy Simpson led the Sooners with a game-high 17 rebounds in her collegiate debut. The freshman pulled down 12 offensive rebounds in the victory and added in seven points.

“Ana, in her mind has been here for five years anyway, so she’s just glad to finally be on the floor,” Coale stated. “Mandy has a really special capacity and ability to really be immersed in the moment and not get caught up in all the things that are going on around her, so she played today just like she practices all the time and I thought really, for these two, that’s probably what set them apart is their ability to just play the game tonight as though they were at 2 o’clock practice and nobody’s in the gym.”

Senior Vionise Pierre-Louis also finished in double figures with 12 points, while recording nine rebounds and a game-high six blocks.

Freshman Shaina Pellington also made an immediate impact, contributing six assists off the bench and chipping in nine points in 23 minutes of action.

OU led 42-29 at halftime and pulled away in the second half, shooting .425 from the floor over the final two quarters. Ortiz sank four of her six 3-pointers during third quarter to help the Sooners push their lead to 63-47 heading to the final frame.

The Sooners shot .411 from the field (30-for-73) against UCO, outrebounded the Bronchos by a 50-39 margin and finished with 34 bench points. The win improved the Sooners to 30-0 in exhibition games since 2000.

OU returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Lloyd Noble Center. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest +.
