LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Oklahoma volleyball junior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking (League City, Texas) was named an All-Southwest Region selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday. The Sooners have landed at least one player on the AVCA All-Region team in each of the last nine years as Enneking is the 15th OU student-athlete to achieve the honor over that stretch.
Announced as an All-Big 12 First Team pick last week, Enneking averaged a league-best 4.20 kills per set. Her 4.30 average in league matches ranked second and she averaged 4.36 against ranked opponents and 4.32 in 12 matches against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
For the season, Enneking totaled 16 double-doubles; the most by a Sooner since Brianne Barker’s 22 in 2011. She pushed her career total to 24 double-doubles. Enneking, who matched her career-high with 26 kills in a four-set match at Texas Tech (Nov. 8), reached double figures in kills in 27 of 29 matches on the year and double figures in digs on 17 occasions. She averaged a team-high 2.94 digs to go with 45 blocks, 25 assists and 13 service aces.
Enneking’s 445 kills are tied for the second most by a Sooner in a single season during the 25-point, rally-scoring era (2008-present); matching Suzy Boulavsky (2010). For her career, Enneking has totaled 766 kills and 562 digs.
