ABOUT THE SOONERS

Oklahoma enters Saturday at 5-18 overall and 2-8 in the Big 12 conference after being swept by No.24 Baylor at home on Saturday. The Sooners are coming off a stretch of three consecutive matches against opponents ranked in the AVCA Top-25. Prior to last week’s matchup with the Bears, OU took No. 11 Kansas (Oct. 25) to five on the road and won the first set against No. 3 Texas (Oct. 22) at home. Junior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking continues to lead the Sooners’ attack with 4.06 kills per set and leads the defense with 3.00 digs per set. She recorded her 13th double-double of the year against the Bears after chipping in 11 kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Audrey Alford leads the Sooners in assists with 9.09 per set. Against the Bears last Saturday, Alford had 26 assists and seven digs.  Junior outside hitter Morgan Miller registered a team-high 11 digs for Oklahoma to go with eight kills against the Bears. Miller is third on the team with 2.09 kills and second with 3.25 assists per set. Junior outside hitter Madison Drescher registered nine kills against Baylor on a .294 attack rate. For the season, Drescher is averaging 2.91 per set.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

West Virginia improved to 15-9 overall and are 3-7 in the Big 12 conference. The Mountaineers ended a short two-match losing streak after sweeping Robert Morris Tuesday to cap off their final non-conference match of the season. Payton Caffrey is the Mountaineers’ top offensive weapon at 3.23 kills to go with 2.41 digs per set. Freshman middle blocker Briana Lynch had a career-high of 10 kills, hitting .769 for a team-best mark against the Colonials. Setter Erin Slinde averages a team-leading 9.86 assists per set. She assisted on 29 of the team’s 41 kills on Tuesday’s match. Senior libero Gianna Gotterba leads the defense in digs with 3.53 per set after reordering seven against RMU. The Mountaineers are 3-6 in road matches and are 0-5 in road games in the Big 12 conference.

LAST TIME THEY MET

Oklahoma took a four-set loss at West Virginia on October 13, marking the first time the Mountaineers have defeated the Sooners in program history. The Sooners won the first before the Mountaineers stormed back to win each of the next three and claim the match. Oklahoma won the first, 25-18. West Virginia won three in a row by scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-16.

ALL-TIME VS. WVU

The Sooners own the all-time series against the Mountaineers, 11-1. The Sooners first met the Mountaineers for their first match in 1999 and have held an 11-0 advantage from that day forward until the Mountaineers defeated OU for the first time in program history on October 13. Oklahoma has swept six of the 11 conference matches against West Virginia after WVU joined the Big 12 Conference in 2012. In the first league game between the two schools, OU won at home in four sets behind 13 kills on a .500 attack rate and seven blocks from Sallie McLaurin.
