The University of Oklahoma volleyball team visits TCU Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. match-up against the Horned Frogs at the Rickel in Fort Worth. Wednesday’s match will be aired on FOX Sports Southwest-Plus. Chuck LaMendola (play-by-play) and Alexia Heist (color commentary) will be courtside for the call. The game can also be streamed online and on mobile via FOXSportsGo.com or the FOXSportsGo app for local cable subscribers.

ABOUT THE SOONERS

The Sooners are 4-15 overall and 1-5 in the Big 12 following the first loss in program history to West Virginia on Friday evening. Oklahoma still seeks its first road win of the season; having last won a true road game at Texas Tech on October 12, 2016. OU is 2-3 in road games at TCU since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12 in 2012. Each of the last three match-ups in Fort Worth have been five set wins by TCU. Oklahoma is 5-0 in home Big 12 matches against the Horned Frogs, including a 3-0 win a year ago, where Madison Drescher hit .500 with 15 kills for the Sooners. The junior outside hitter is second on OU with 2.76 kills per set this year after tallying 9 at WVU last week. Junior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking leads the Sooners with 4.09 kills to go with 2.80 digs per set. Junior setter Audrey Alford is coming off her fourth double-double of the season and is averaging 8.87 assists and 1.94 digs per set. Junior Morgan Miller has split time between outside hitter and setter; averaging 2.08 kills, 3.94 assists, 1.75 digs and 0.55 blocks per set.

SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS

TCU is 9-9 overall and 1-5 in the Big 12 on the heels of a three-match losing streak, including a four-set road loss at Texas State in non-conference play. Three Horned Frog hitters average better than 2.75 kills per set, including middle blocker Anna Walsh at 2.97, while hitting a team-best .337 with 1.00 blocks per set. TCU’s setting duties are shared by Lamprini Konstantinidou, averaging 6.38 assists, and Kaylee Smith, averaging 4.97. Libero Dani Dennison leads the back row with 4.83 digs per set, which ranks second in the Big 12.

LAST TIME THEY MET

Oklahoma rolled past TCU, 3-0, at home on October 29, 2016 by scores of 25-23, 25-11 and 25-17. It marked the fourth straight sweep for the Sooners against the Horned Frogs in Norman.  Madison Drescher and Alyssa Enneking powered the OU attack with 15 and 13 kills, respectively. Drescher hit a match-high .500 with just one error, while Enneking hit .458 and added 13 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Kimmy Gardiner picked up her team-leading eighth double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.

ALL-TIME VS. TCU

Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 11-4. The Sooners have won the last five meeting in Norman against the Horned Frogs and from 2005-2014 OU won nine straight matches. Oklahoma leads the series, 7-3, since TCU joined the Big 12 in 2012. The last time these teams met in Fort Worth, the Horned Frogs posted 23.5 blocks and held on for a five-set win with a marathon fifth set that finished in their favor; 29-27.

BY THE NUMBERS: OU VS. TCU

In two starts against the Horned Frogs in 2016, Madison Drescher totaled 16 kills and just two errors; hitting over .500 in each match. She has averaged 2.07 kills and 0.53 blocks per set vs. TCU. Audrey Alford has started three of four matches against the Horned Frogs and posted two double-doubles last season. Rachel Manriquez has appeared at libero in three of four matches and averages 2.69 digs per set, including 16 in a three-set win in 2015, vs. TCU.
