NORMAN – University of Oklahoma women’s tennis head coach Audra Cohen and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners’ 2017 fall tournament schedule on Thursday.

"We are excited to begin our fall season," Cohen said. "We feel like this schedule challenges our players and it gives us a chance to focus on their game at the individual level. We've been able to tailor our schedule to challenge our players in different tournaments and we feel like that will help us in preparation for the spring 2018 season."

Newcomer Camila Romero kicks off the season for the Sooners, competing individually at the ITF Lubbock 25K from Sept. 19-24 (Lubbock, Texas).

The Sooners will be represented at two different tournaments the weekend of Sept. 21-24 with Christie Brigante, Malene Stripp, Simran Kaur Sethi and Nina Jabrzemski competing at the Rice Invitational (Houston, Texas) and senior Lily Miyazaki will compete for OU at the ITA Oracle Masters (Malibu, Calif.).

The team will travel to the ITA All-American starting Sept. 30 (Malibu, Calif.), where Miyazaki will represent the Sooners in the main singles draw, while the rest of the roster will compete in the pre-qualifying event.

The Sooners will travel to ITA Central Regionals in Lawrence, Kan., from Oct. 19-23 before wrapping up tournament play at the Arizona State Fall Invite, Nov. 3-5 in Tempe, Ariz.

Miyazaki is also slated to play at the ITA National Fall Championships in Palm Desert, Calif. from Nov. 1-5.

The ITA also released its preseason rankings on Tuesday, with Miyazaki coming in at No. 19 on the singles list.

OU’s spring schedule will be released at a later date.
