BOULDER, Col. – The Sooners wrapped up singles play at the Colorado Invitational with wins by Simran Sethi and Malene Stripp on Saturday.

"The team is competing better with each match," said OU head coach Audra Cohen. "It is not easy to play in altitude because the ball flies quickly through the air. It requires a lot of mental toughness and self-trust of each of your shots. This makes this event a particularly good opportunity to gain experience dealing with adversity in matches."

Sethi won the Gold draw’s consolation final, taking down New Mexico’s Bronte Murgett. The senior came out on top of an extended first set, 7-5, before dominating the second frame, 6-1.

In the Black draw’s consolation round, Stripp defeated Colorado’s Louise Ronaldson, 6-4, 6-3. OU's Camila Romero fell to New Mexico State's Rebecca Keijzerwaard, 6-4, 6-4. Stripp and Romero had originally been slated to play each other in an all-Sooner consolation final, but instead were matched with opponents from other schools.

Senior Christiana Brigante was runner-up in the Silver draw. The senior fell to Danielle Quevedo of UNM, 6-2, 6-0, in the final. Brigante finished the weekend with a 2-1 mark.

"Christie did a great job this weekend of embracing the adversity and staying present in her matches," said Cohen.

On the consolation side of the Silver draw, OU's Nina Jabrzemski was defeated by UNM’s Lauren Rich, 6-2, 6-2.

The Sooners finished the Colorado Invitational with seven singles wins during the event.

In doubles action, Romero and Stripp cruised to a 6-2 victory over UNM’s Natasha Munday and Diana Wong. Jabrzemski and Sethi were defeated by Brigette Beck and Ilana Oleynik of Colorado, 6-1.

The Colorado Invite wraps up Sunday with the final round of doubles play beginning at 10 a.m. CT.
