NORMAN — Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops announced Thursday the signing of Kentucky graduate transfer Jeff Badet (pronounced buh-DETT) to a financial aid agreement. A wide receiver, Badet will be immediately eligible for the Sooners and has one year of eligibility remaining.

The 6-0, 180-pound Badet, who is scheduled to earn a bachelor's degree from Kentucky next month, started all 13 games for the Wildcats in 2016 and was a team captain in nine of those contests. The junior finished the year with 31 catches for a team-high 670 yards and four touchdowns on a run-heavy squad that featured a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. Badet, whose long reception was a 72-yarder for a touchdown against Southern Miss, ranked sixth nationally by averaging 21.6 yards per catch. He registered seven receptions of at least 40 yards on the year.

"We're excited to welcome Jeff to our team," said Stoops, who has directed OU to Big 12 titles in 10 of his 18 years as a head coach. "He has successful experience at this level and is a mature guy with great big-play ability. He was a key player for Kentucky and will come here ready to compete to be the same for us."

Badet ranked sixth nationally in 2016 by averaging 21.6 yards per catch. He registered seven receptions of at least 40 yards.

A native of Orlando, Fla., who attended Freedom High School, Badet recorded back-to-back 100-yard receiving games last season. He finished with a career-high seven catches for a career-high 139 yards and two touchdowns (40 and 44 yards) in a 40-38 home win over Mississippi State (he finished with a career-high 216 all-purpose yards), and three catches for 104 yards and a 65-yard TD in a 35-21 road victory over Missouri.

Badet, who is of Haitian descent, amassed 28 percent of Kentucky's receiving yards in 2016. He returned a team-high 15 kickoffs for an average of 22.9 yards and a long of 39, while also rushing one time for 25 yards.

Badet finished his three-season Kentucky career with 82 catches for 1,385 yards (16.9 average) and seven receiving TDs. He redshirted the 2014 season after sustaining an injury in spring practice.
