2:24 p.m. | Sooners Win
Sooners move to 9-2 with a 26-6 win against the Iowa State Cyclones on a cold and wet Senior Day in Norman. A big thanks to the fans who stayed with us in the stands and all who followed along with the broadcasts and blog. Big week as the Sooners now focus on Bedlam. We'll see you in Stillwater. Boomer!
2:22 p.m. | Sealing the Deal?
Iowa State's fourth-down shot at the end zone floats harmlessly over the receiver's hands and the Sooners take over with two minutes left on the clock. A long drive here would seal the game.
2:19 p.m. | Frank
Not a good sign with Frank Alexander down on the field due to an apparent shoulder injury. Ronnell Lewis is already done for the season as is Ryan Broyles, Dom Whaley. Big Frank gets a big cheer from the fans in the stands as he makes his way off the field.
2:15 p.m. | Turnover
Landry Jones throws OU's third interception of the game and now both teams have four turnovers each.
2:13 p.m. | Bedlam Talk
On the FX broadcast, Tim Brewster picks Oklahoma to beat OSU next week in Bedlam. Factors in OU has won eight-straight against the Cowboys. Let's get this one finished before looking ahead fellas.
2:09 p.m. | Hunnicutt
Tip of the hat to Michael Hunnicutt, who's four-for-four in field goals today for the Sooners. He leads the team in scoring at 105 points. On the season, he's 19 of 22 (86%).
2:01 p.m. | Play It Again
Trey Franks takes a double reverse 45 yards, nearly scoring a TD. He had a 43-yard gain on a similar play earlier in the game. Franks is one of the fastest (if not the fastest) guys on the team. OU not content to sit on the lead. Sooners stall in the red zone and settle for another field goal. Score: Oklahoma 26, Iowa State 6.
1:59 p.m. | Attrition
After a flurry of points right before the half, the Sooners and Cyclones have settled into a game of attrition. Up 23-6, that plays into OU's favor with just 9:16 left on the clock. Running game to get more work?
1:55 p.m. | Defense
Pass deflection off Kameel Jackson is intercepted by the Cyclones to end Oklahoma's latest drive. Again, the ISU defense is playing well in this game. Then again, so is the Sooner defense. ISU's offense has just over 200 yards in this game.
1:48 p.m. | Finch
This just in: Roy Finch has some serious hops. Amazing body control to avoid the first tackler on that last run.
1:45 p.m. | Williams
True freshman running back Brandon Williams getting work as we begin the fourth quarter. Obviously, OU isn't in much of a hurry on offense up 23-6. The faster the clock runs with this lead, the better under adverse weather conditions. Williams has nine carries for a career-high 62 yards so far.
1:41 p.m. | Clock Rolling
If the clock keeps rolling like it has through the first three quarters, we might have our quickest game of the year. We're just over two hours and fifteen minutes in with one quarter to play. With as much as OU puts the ball in the air, it's not uncommon for games to last 3:30+.
1:39 p.m. | False Start
The Iowa State offensive line has had a rough day (which could be an indication of the impact the Sooner defense is having). That's at least the fifth false start today by the big boys up front.
1:38 p.m. | Attendance
OU announces attendance of 84,326 for today's game with Iowa State. Evident several thousand have decided to give in to the weather and watch the game under better conditions elsewhere.
1:35 p.m. | Third Scoreless
Only the second game this season that the Sooners were held without a score in the third quarter. OU didn't score against Florida State in Tallahassee in the third back on September 17 but put 10 points on the board in the fourth to win, 23-13.
1:31 p.m. | ISU's Defense
Iowa State's defense has kept the Cyclones in this game. It's the offense that has four turnovers. OU's first three drives of the second half have ended in two punts and a fumble. Perhaps that's why Paul Rhoads is electing to punt rather than attempt to convert on fourth downs.
1:24 p.m. | Punishing Barnett
The Sooner defense is punishing ISU's Barnett when he keeps the ball on the run. Tony Jefferson just made a great stop on the Cyclone QB. Iowa State elects to punt the ball back to the Sooners.
1:19 p.m. | False Start
The Sooners fumble the ball back to Iowa State here in the third quarter with 8:02 on the clock. Before ISU can snap the ball, they get another false start call. That's the fourth one of the day.
1:14 p.m. | RB Styles, O-Line
Great contrast in running styles between Roy Finch and Brandon Williams. FX just gave a shout-out to the Oklahoma offensive line for its performance so far in the game.
1:12 p.m. | Nine Drives
Good stand by the Sooner defense to force another punt by Iowa State. It's actually just the fourth ISU drive of nine to end in a punt. Three ended on fumbles and one on an interception. The other was the TD by the Cyclones.
1:04 p.m. | Scoring Into Wind
FX just showed a graphic that 20 of Oklahoma's 23 points have been scored going into the wind. OU would like to put a few more on the board with the wind's help this quarter.
1:01 p.m. | Third Quarter Dominance
Oklahoma's coaches (and fans) would undoubtedly like to see the Sooners' third-quarter dominance continue in this game. OU has out-scored its opponents 132-24 in the third quarter this season.
12:55 p.m. | TD Leaders
Since unveiling the Belldozer package four weeks ago at Kansas State, Blake Bell has nine touchdowns on the season. He is now tied for second on the team in total TDs with Dominique Whaley, who is out for the season with an injury. Ryan Broyles, who leads the team with 10 TDs, is also out for the season. That's a lot of touchdowns missing from the lineup and forced to watch from the sidelines.
12:49 p.m.
| Halftime Stats
The halftime stats show OU dominating in every facet of the game. The Sooners hold a 282-89 advantage in total yards, 187-52 in passing yards, 93-37 in rushing yards, 17 first downs to five, and of course the four turnovers forced to just one given up.
12:46 p.m.
| Four Drives, Four Scores
Oklahoma scored on each of its four drives in the second quarter, two touchdowns and two field goals.
12:44 p.m.
| Tale of Two Quarters
The Sooners got off to a sluggish start, failing to take advantage of two ISU turnovers and having the wind at their backs in the first quarter. They turned it around in the second, however, scoring 20 unanswered points on two Blake Bell TDs and two Michael Hunnicutt FGs, both which came after turnovers. Maybe having the wind isn't such an advantage? The Sooners will have it at their backs in the third. We'll see what they do with it and if they can keep the momentum.
12:39 p.m.
| Hunnicutt Nails It
Kicking into a stiff wind, Michael Hunnicutt drills a 36-yard field goal on the last play of the first half to extend OU's lead to 23-6. The Sooners take all the momentum into halftime with 20 unanswered points in the second quarter.
12:34 p.m.
| Another Turnover
Iowa State fumbles the kickoff, Demontre Hurst recovers and the Sooners have another opportunity to score before the half. That is the Cyclones' fourth turnover of the game.
12:33 p.m.
| Settle for Three
The Sooners couldn't punch it into the end zone that time but still extend their lead with Michael Hunnicutt's second field goal of the day. OU 20, Iowa State 6 with 25 seconds left in the half.
12:31 p.m.
| Lewis Notes
The interception by Lewis was the ninth of his career, the most of any linebacker in OU history. Lewis also has the second-most interception return yardage in school history (173 yards on 9 INTs), trailing only CB Derrick Straight (397 yards on 14 INTs).
12:27 p.m.
| TD Taken Away
Travis Lewis nearly had the senior moment of all senior moments, returning an interception 45 yards to the end zone. The TD was taken away, however, due to an illegal block on the return. We wish we could give Lewis the six, but still a great play by the senior leader and OU's offense is back in business.
12:21 p.m.
| Bell's Second
Guess who? OU's touchdown-maker Blake Bell punches it in again from short yardage to put the Sooners up 17-6. That drive covered 68 yards in just six plays and 2:12 off the clock.
12:19 p.m.
| Fastest Sooner
We've heard players and coaches mention Trey Franks as the fastest guy on the team throughout the year. Franks showed off his speed with a big gain on a reverse play to get the Sooners inside the red zone. Of course, it helps when you have all kinds of room to accelerate due to good blocking downfield. Credit Franks for the gain, but also the entire team for executing the play to perfection. The 43-yard rush was the longest of the season for the Sooners.
12:13 p.m.
| Kicking Into Wind
One area where the wind is having a major impact today is in the kicking game. Kicking into the wind, Michael Hunnicutt's last boot landed at the 25-yard line, giving the Cyclones good field position. We'll see how big of a factor it becomes, and if the offenses can take advantage when they have the wind at their backs.
12:07 p.m.
| Back to Belldozer
OU puts the ball right back in Blake Bell's hands in short yardage, this time reverting back to the original rushing version of the Belldozer. The Sooners polish off a 10-play, 79-yard drive with a three-yard TD run and Oklahoma is back on top, 10-6.
12:04 p.m.
| Throwing Into Wind
Both quarterbacks have shown impressive accuracy when throwing into the wind today. Iowa State's Jared Barnett had a couple of strong throws in the first quarter, while Landry Jones is showing off his arm here on OU's latest drive. The Sooners are knocking on the door with a first down inside the five-yard line.
11:58 a.m.
| Get a Grip
With cold hands from the weather conditions today in Norman, it certainly has to be a little more difficult to get a grip on the football. We've seen four instances already on plays that have resulted in turnovers. Iowa State has fumbled twice, the Sooners had the bad snap on the punt and then the latest interception thrown by Blake Bell. You can be sure there is an increased emphasis on the sidelines on protecting the football.
11:51 a.m.
| Sooners Stopped
OU's scoring threat was stopped inside the five-yard line when the Belldozer backfired. The Sooners tried unveiling a new wrinkle to their power formation by throwing the football, but Bell's attempt was intercepted in the end zone. Iowa State takes over.
11:47 a.m.
| Spreading the Ball
Landry Jones has completions to James Hanna, Kameel Jackson, Dejuan Miller and Kenny Stills with Ryan Broyles and Jaz Reynolds sidelined. Bell comes in at the goal line and promptly throws an interception to end the first quarter.
11:45 a.m. | Miller, Hanna
Good to see Dejuan Miller haul in that pass for a 19-yard gain. Sooners show no hesitation going back to the senior after the drop on the last drive. Sooners still have the wind with two minutes left in the first quarter. Senior James Hanna gets the first down to keep this drive alive.
11:43 a.m. | Near INT for Hurst
Demontre Hurst nearly had the INT on that throw from Barnett. The ISU receiver got his hand in there and knocked it out of his grasp. The Sooner defense holds and ISU is forced to punt.
11:39 a.m. | Finch Fireworks
One of the more exciting returns you'll see as Roy Finch bobbles the ball, then scrambles to the 43. Looks like both teams are dealing with the inclement weather and slippery pigskin.
11:34 a.m. | Sooner Mistake, ISU TD
Oklahoma's punt snap goes through the hands of Tress Way and Iowa State will have the ball at the OU 10. Pass is deflected but hauled in. Iowa State touchdown. The extra point hits the upright. Iowa State 6, Oklahoma 3 in a wild game in Norman.
11:31 a.m. | Another Fumble!
It appears Tony Jefferson got his hand on the ball and forced another fumble from ISU running back James White. Corey Nelson is there to recover for the Sooners and Oklahoma goes on the attack with a big run from freshman Brandon Williams.
11:27 a.m. | Staying Alive
Despite the intense wind in their face, the Iowa State offense connects on a 16-yard pass for a first down to keep the drive alive.
11:21 a.m. | Big Return
Big return for Iowa State on the kickoff. The Cyclones start their second drive at the 45-yard line. The gaffes continue for ISU as they go backwards with a false start before the snap.
11:17 a.m. | FG, Sooners
Iowa State forces an incomplete from Jones on third down. Sooners go for field goal. Hunnicutt connects from 20 yards out and the Sooners go up, 3-0, early in the first quarter in Norman.
11:16 a.m. | Bell Drives
Blake Bell rolls to the right on fourth down and keeps the drive alive. In comes Landry Jones here at the goal line.
11:14 a.m. | Fumble!
Frank Alexander strips the ball from ISU's running back and Aaron Colvin recovers to put the Sooners in business at the 22.
11:12 a.m. | Kickoff
Oklahoma wins the toss, defers and kicks off to Iowa State. We're underway in Norman. Boomer!
11:11 a.m. | Reynolds Out
Word from the Sooner Radio broadcast is that Jaz Reynolds will be out for the game. Wind gusts are 45 mph with rain on the way.
11:09 a.m. | Box's Family
Austin Box's family was recognized as OU's seniors were honored prior to today's game. They held his No. 12 jersey on Owen Field. Emotional day for all involved.
11:07 a.m. | Intro Video
The intro video has rolled and the big screen is following a live shot of the Sooners leaving their locker room and making their way to the field. James Garner's "This is Oklahoma Football!" announces OU's entrance to Owen Field. Kickoff minutes away.
11:03 a.m. | McFarland in No. 12
It was reported earlier that Jamell Fleming would be wearing the honorary No. 12 for today's game. There's been a change. Defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland is wearing No. 12 on the field.
11:00 a.m. | National Anthem
The hardy Sooner fans that refuse to leave their seats are now standing for the National Anthem. We're under 10 minutes to kickoff (game will be televised by FX). Check out complete coverage options for this morning's game with the links to the right.
10:58 a.m. | Keeping Dry
With rain now hitting the area, we've been forced to abandon our sideline post with all our electronic equipment and retreat to the offices on the southwest corner of the stadium. We have both the stadium feed and the FX broadcast so we'll be updating the action from all fronts.
10:48 a.m. | Don Key Winners
Don Key winners for the 2011 football team: James Hanna, Travis Lewis, Ryan Broyles and Corey Wilson. View historical winners:

All-Time OU Don Key Award Winners

10:39 a.m. | Rain?
We're set up on the sideline behind Oklahoma's bench at the 50 but it's beginning to rain. We'll see if this is just a few sprinkles or if it will force us back to the office to update the blog. Obviously, not ideal conditions in Norman for today's home finale.
10:35 a.m. | Cold Front
The weather here at Owen Field took a drastic turn about an hour before kickoff. Rain moved through the area overnight but the real kicker is a cold front that has swept through bringing colder temps and a stiff gale from the north.
8:01 a.m. | OU vs. Iowa State
OU hosts the Iowa State Cyclones Saturday at 11 a.m. in Norman. The game will be televised by FX. Follow our live blog throughout the day for complete coverage.
