Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
• On the game:
“Obviously a huge win that gives us an edge in this very difficult conference race.  I thought our crowd was fantastic and gave us lots of energy at the times when we needed it most.  I feel very fortunate to have survived shooting from the perimeters as poorly as we did today.  But we were able to survive because of toughness, because of effort plays and because of Amanda Thompson, who was absolutely fabulous. “

• On the importance of a win against Baylor:
“We really put this win with this weekend.  We put both of these games together.  This was the weekend that could put us in the spot that we’ve fought for all year long.  We’re just halfway done.  As proud as we are of this win as significant as it is and the position it puts us in for the remainder of the Big 12, the weekend’s not over yet.  We still have Monday night to deal with, so we’re only halfway home.”

Oklahoma Senior Center Courtney Paris
• On the game:
“The number one thing we say is you have to get stops, because if we’re not scoring they can’t score.  I feel like whenever we’re in droughts like that, we have different people on our team who can step up and take the game over.  I thought D-Rob [Danielle Robinson] did that for a little bit; taking it to the rim and getting those buckets and getting us back into it.”

Oklahoma Sophomore Guard Danielle Robinson
• On the ability to get inside the lane in the second half:
“One of the things we weren’t doing was penetrating.  We were standing around the perimeter and just passing it around.  Coach was like, ‘We have to get into forward motion and we have to penetrate and kick and penetrate and kick,’ and just keep doing that sort of thing.  So I definitely think that penetration helped us, and we got stops on the other end and that was crucial; not letting that six-point lead get any higher.”

Oklahoma Junior Forward Amanda Thompson
• On her thoughts as the game picked up in second half:
“Honestly I probably lost consciousness.  All I remember was Ashley [Paris] telling me, ‘You have to get every rebound, you have to get every rebound,’ and that just locked into my head.  Then every time the ball went up I was just reading it, like I was telling my eyes and my feet. I was just shuffling and they weren’t blocking me out so I just went for it.  That was that.”

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
• On the rebounding:
“I don’t think either team got anything fluid going on offense, I think rebounding was the difference in the ballgame.  Amanda Thompson had nine offensive boards -- I think it was the difference in the ball game.  We’re the top two rebounding teams in the league, they did it better today.”

• On the rebounding:
“This is a game, win or lose, this is a game.  Our kids fought, our kids battled, our kids left everything they had on the floor today.  We’re going to get on that bus and keep it in perspective.

• On the second half lead:
“We had a six-point lead in the second half and there was a stretch when those six players we had on the floor didn’t extend it.  We’re going to go back and look at the film and figure out why.  Did we execute? Did we get good looks? Did they make defensive stops? We had two teams getting after it today, I thought the crowd was awesome.  We enjoy playing in that kind of atmosphere.”

• On Danielle Wilson:
“She did a great job, battling in there and blocking shots.  She did as well as she could in there.  Look at the stats sheet, neither team shot 40 percent, rebounding was the difference.”

• On bouncing back after the loss:
“We’re second place in the Big 12; they’re No.2 in the country; we’re No. 5 in the country. I don’t have to bounce back, we’re going to get back on that bus and get ready for four more games , get ready for the Big 12 tournament and get ready for the NCAA tournament.  Keep it in perspective, we fought hard, that game was a battle.  It was great for the Big 12.”

• On Courtney Paris:
“Courtney Paris did what Courtney Paris does best, she’s an All-American.  The ball was in her hands when the game was tight and on the line and she made plays.”
