NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women’s basketball improved its frontcourt Monday, adding one of the nation’s top post players to its incoming freshman class, OU head coach Sherri Coale said.
Incarnate Word (St. Louis, Mo.) Academy senior McKenna Treece, a 6-foot-4 center, signed a financial aid agreement with the Sooners and will be eligible to play the 2014-15 season.
“We are so excited that McKenna will be joining our Oklahoma basketball family,” Coale said. “She was an immediate fit with our players, and she will fill an immediate need for us on the court.”
Treece was the No. 16 rated post player in the ESPN HoopGurlz 100. As a senior, Treece averaged 10.0 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20 games for Missouri’s Class 4 state champions, Incarnate Word's third title in four years.
Treece joins Gabbi Ortiz, Vionese-Pierre Louis, LaNesia Williams -- all ranked top 25 by position -- Puerto Rico junior national team member Gilyesa Penzo and transfer Peyton Little as fall newcomers.
