Sooners Highlight Big 12 TV Calendar

NORMAN, Okla. -- OU women’s basketball will once again be at the forefront of the sport’s viewing audience as FOX Sports and the Big 12 Conference announced their 2013-14 broadcast schedule today.

Including two games on ESPN2, the University of Oklahoma will play at least nine games on national cable networks. Should the Sooners’ advance to the Preseason WNIT Championship Game, that matchup will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

OU will announce its Sooner Sports TV broadcast schedule at a later date.

Oklahoma is represented in two of the Big 12’s three non-conference games as its Dec. 1 game hosting Creighton will air on the newly launched FOX Sports 1 (FS1) at 12 p.m. Central and the Dec. 8 game against Duke will be on the network at 3 p.m.

Oklahoma’s game versus Baylor in Waco, Texas, previously scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25, has moved to Monday, Feb. 24, at will be broadcast on FS1 at 6 p.m.

The Sooners are also on FS1 Tuesday, Jan. 21, with their game at Iowa State and play on the network once more, hosting West Virginia Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m.

OU also has two contests in Norman on the FOX Sports Network -- its Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma State on Feb. 1 (2 p.m.) and versus Texas on Feb. 19 (6:30 p.m.)

ESPN previously announced its schedule. The Sooners host Baylor for Big Monday on Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. and visit Oklahoma State in Stillwater Feb. 16 on Play4Kay weekend.

The 2014 Play 4Kay initiative is an opportunity to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. Since its inception in 2007, Play 4Kay has raised over $2.5 million to support women’s cancer research. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative.

The Big 12 Championship quarterfinal games, to be played at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City on March 8, will be aired by FSN for the 13th consecutive year while the semifinals and final will make their first national appearance on FS1. The final three games have appeared on FOX networks every year since the inception of the Conference in 1996-97.
