NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma will participate in the 2013 Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament, organizing body Triple Crown Sports announced Wednesday.
Oklahoma is one of 10 teams in the 16-team field that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season. The field also includes Georgia State, Gonzaga, Idaho, IPFW, Louisville, Loyola Chicago, LSU, Mount St. Mary’s, North Carolina A&T, Quinnipiac, Saint Joseph’s, Stephen F. Austin, Stetson, Tennessee-Martin, and Wichita State.
The Preseason WNIT features a three-game guarantee format. First-round games begin Nov. 8. Second-round game will be played Nov. 10 and 11 and semifinals Nov. 14. The championship game, to be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network, will be Nov. 17. Teams that lose in the first two rounds will play consolation games on the second weekend, Nov. 15-16.
All games are hosted by participating schools. The official tournament bracket with first-round opponents, game dates and times will be announced next month.
