NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma men's basketball players Romero Osby, Amath M'Baye and Steven Pledger have been named to the 2013 All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Sunday.  Osby was selected to the first team while M'Baye and Pledger were third-team honorees.  M'Baye was also named to the six-member Big 12 All-Rookie Team.

Osby, a senior forward, is OU's first first-team All-Big 12 selection since Blake Griffin in 2009.  The Meridian, Miss., product, who transferred from Mississippi State three years ago, is the Sooners' leading scorer (15.7 ppg) and rebounder (6.9 rpg) this season.  In Big 12 play, he ranked first in the league in field goals (109), second in scoring (17.8 ppg), third in field goal percentage (.540) and fifth in rebounding (7.3 rpg) and free throw percentage (.776).

Osby led OU (or tied for the lead) in scoring in 13 of 18 Big 12 games and scored in double figures in all but one of them.  He has shot 50 percent or better from the field in 19 of the last 23 games and over the last seven outings is averaging 22.0 points and 8.0 boards while shooting .583.

One of three team captains, Osby surpassed 20 points six times in Big 12 play, and netted at least 26 points on three occasions.  He scored a career-high 31 points Feb. 27 at Texas.  Osby has been a force on the defensive end as well, leading OU with 26 blocked shots and 20 charges taken.  He was an honorable mention all-league pick last year as a junior.

Osby was joined on the All-Big 12 First Team by Kansas' Ben McLemore and Jeff Withey, Kansas State's Rodney McGruder and Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart.

M'Baye, a junior forward, averages 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds a game to rank third and second on the team.  He is shooting .465 from the field and .750 from the free throw line.  In Big 12 play, the Wyoming transfer shot .829 from the free throw line and .400 (12-for-30) from 3-point distance.  He has scored in double figures in 15 games on the year.  A native of Bordeaux, France, he was twice honored as the Big 12 Rookie of the Week.

Pledger, a senior guard, ranks second on the team with his 12.0 points per contest.  The squad's best perimeter shooter, he ranks third in the Big 12 with his 2.3 3-pointers per game and ranks sixth with his .377 mark from behind the arc.  Over the last seven games, Pledger is 27-for-58 (.466) from 3-point range and is averaging 16.6 points.  He ranks second on OU's all-time 3-pointers list with 247 (needs 12 to tie the record) and 14th in career scoring with 1,381 points.  The Chesapeake, Va., product was an honorable mention all-conference selection last year as a junior.

The All-Big 12 Second Team is comprised of Baylor's Pierre Jackson, Iowa State's Will Clyburn, Kansas' Travis Releford, Kansas State's Angel Rodriguez and Oklahoma State's Markel Brown.  Joining M'Baye and Pledger on the third team are Baylor's Isaiah Austin, Iowa State's Melvin Ejim and Oklahoma State's Le'Bryan Nash.

All voting was done by the league's head coaches.  They were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Oklahoma is the No. 4 seed in this week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship and will play No. 5 seed Iowa State on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. CT at Kansas City's Sprint Center.  The game will be televised by ESPN2.
