NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma baseball right-hander Jonathan Gray and first baseman Matt Oberste were both named to All-American teams presented by Louisville Slugger, Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Both were honored as first team selections by the NCBWA on Wednesday afternoon.
Gray (Chandler, Okla.) also earned first team honors from Baseball America and the American Baseball Coaches Association as well as selection to the Louisville Slugger All-American Second Team, as announced by Collegiate Baseball News last week. The third overall pick in last week's Major League Baseball Draft by the Colorado Rockies, Gray finished the season at 10-3 with a 1.63 earned run average and 147 strikeouts in 126.1 innings pitched.
Oberste (Sallisaw, Okla.) also pulled in a second team selection from Baseball America and a third team selection from Louisville Slugger. He led the Sooners in hitting with a .373 average to go with 19 doubles, 11 home runs and 60 runs batted in. Oberste was drafted in the seventh round with the 206th overall pick by the New York Mets.
