NORMAN, Okla. – The regular season wraps up with a 7:00 pm match on Saturday, November 30 when Oklahoma hosts Kansas in McCasland Field House on “Senior Night”.
"SENIOR NIGHT" MATCH NOTES
1. About the Sooners
Oklahoma, riding a four-match win streak, stands at 22-7 overall and 10-5 in the Big 12. Senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin leads the Sooners with 3.77 kills per set and is second in the league in hitting percentage at .426. Sophomore libero Taylor Migliazzo is averaging a team-high 3.92 digs per set. Senior outside hitter Keila Rodriguez contributes equally on both sides of the ball with 3.28 digs per set and 2.40 kills per set, ranking second and third, respectively. For the season, OU is outhitting its opponents, .244-.185.
2. Last Time They Met
The Sooners suffered a 3-0 setback at Kansas on October 9. The Jayhawks won by scores on 25-23, 25-15 and 25-23. Oklahoma led by as many as six at 17-11 in the first, but could now hold on as KU won each of the last five points. A Sooner comeback was thwarted in the third as the Jayhawks used a 3-1 run to end the set and the match. McClinton posted a match-high 16 kills, while McNorton dished out 48 assists and Brianne Riley picked up 17 digs. McLaurin and Holst led OU with 10 kills each.
3. All-Time vs. Kansas
Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 46-32. Kansas swept the season-series in 2012, with the Sooners last winning when they swept the season-series in 2011. The series started with a 2-0 OU win in 1976.
4. OU Senior Class
The Oklahoma volleyball class of 2014 has amassed an 88-41 record and 41-26 mark in the Big 12, while reachinf the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three seasons, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2010. They are the winningest class at Oklahoma since 1982.
5. Against the Ranked
The Sooners are 2-3 against ranked opponents this season. Oklahoma registered wins over No. 25 BYU (9/7) and No. 25 Iowa State (10/5). The Sooners fell twice to Texas (No. 5, 9/28; No. 1, 11/2). Most recently, Oklahoma lost at No. 25 Iowa State (11/9) in three sets. At home this season, the Sooners are 1-1 against ranked opponents.
6. Block Assists Leader
McLaurin took over the top spot in the OU record book for career block assists on at Iowa State on November 9 with the 500th of her career. She has lifted her record total to 513. McLaurin currently ranks third all-time in total blocks with 612 behind Margaret Page (1983-87) and Gloria Holcomb (1990-93) at 640 and 613, respectively.
7. Home Court Advantage
Despite an early season loss to Miami, Oklahoma is 9-2 in home matches this season and improved to 85-37 (.697) at McCasland Field House under Restrepo. The Sooners are averaging 892 in attendance at home dates, topped with 2,128 against No. 1 Texas on November 2. Since the Oklahoma volleyball program took its first serve in 1974, the Sooners have tallied a 297-192 (.607) record on their home court.
