NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Baylor in front of 1,135 at McCasland Field House on Saturday night. The Sooners improved to 20-7 overall and 8-5 in the Big 12, while the Bears dropped to 12-17 and 4-9.

The win marked the 17th 20-win season in Oklahoma’s 40-year history and the sixth during the 10-season tenure of head coach Santiago Restrepo.

“We got our 20th win under our belt,” said Restrepo. “We’re extremely excited to do that in the 40 years of this program. We played pretty solid tonight and were pretty calm and collected.”

The straight-sets victory; 25-18, 25-16, 25-18, was the 11th of the season for the Sooners and the fourth in Big 12 play.

“[Playing strong early] is one thing that our captains, Sallie [McLaurin] and Eden [Williams] talked about before the match. They talked about coming out strong from the get-go and establishing our dominance. That’s what they did.”

Senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) hit .474 and totaled 11 kills. It was the 19th time in 27 matches that she hit .400 or better. Sophomore outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) tied for the team lead with 11 kills of her own.

Baylor’s Laura Jones led all players with 13 kills to go with a .370 hitting percentage.

Sophomore setter Julia Doyle (Plymouth, Minn.) collected 30 assists and eight digs. Sophomore libero Taylor Migliazzo (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Sooners with 11 digs, while senior outside hitter Keila Rodriguez (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) added nine digs and nine kills.

Kayci Evans led the Bears with 12 digs, while Morgan Reed dished out 19 assists.

For the match, Oklahoma outhit Baylor, .312-.172. The Sooners are 6-0 when hitting better than .300 in a match.

Oklahoma tied a program record for service aces in a match during the rally scoring era with 11. The record was originally set against Louisiana-Monroe on September 14, 2002 and was only achieved once since the start of the 25-point era against Nicholls State on August 29, 2009.

The Sooners return to action Wednesday, November 20 at Texas Tech.
