SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team swept Missouri State, 3-0, at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational, Saturday night. The Sooners improved to 9-1 after picking up a sweep in all three matches this weekend, while the Bears fell to 8-3.
Oklahoma rolled to victory by scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-19. Missouri State leads the all-time series, 25-10, but the Sooners have won all five matches dating back to 2006.
For the match, OU outhit MSU, .407 to .175. Oklahoma hit over .400 in all three matches this weekend, totaling just 23 errors in nine sets.
“It’s a matter of them focusing 24/7 to do their job,” said head coach Santiago Restrepo. “They are doing very well in crunch time. We got a lock of blocks and a lot of deflections. Everyone focused and played very hard to finish the job and win the tournament.”
Senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) was named Tournament MVP as she tallied 15 kills and hit .600 with six blocks. Senior outside hitter Keila Rodriguez (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) and sophomore outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) joined McLaurin on the All-Tournament Team.
Rodriguez finished second on the team with 10 kills and a .429 attack rate, while Holst notched nine and .348.
Carolina McCartney led the Bears with 10 Kills. Carly Thomas led all players with 27 kills, while Tatum Marshall picked up a team-high nine kills.
For the Sooners, sophomore setter Julia Doyle (Plymouth, Minn.) totaled 23 assists and junior Kaitlyn Drawe (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) added 18 off the bench. Sophomore libero Taylor Migliazzo (Kansas City, Mo.) collected a match-best 10 digs.
Earlier in the day, Restrepo picked up the 300th win of his 17 year career in a 3-0 victory over Middle Tennessee State.
“There are a lot of players, coaches and staff that have helped me get to where I am today,” said Restrepo. “That’s a tribute to the people and players that have been dedicated and worked so hard for this program.”
Oklahoma returns to action at intrastate rival Tulsa on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:00 pm.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Head coach Santiago Restrepo guided the University of Oklahoma volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Middle Tennessee State to earn his 300th career win, Saturday morning. The sweep was the fifth of the season for the Sooners as they improved to 8-1, while the Blue Raiders dropped to 5-4.
Restrepo’s career record now stands at 300-190 and 173-118 at Oklahoma.
Oklahoma narrowly edged out MTSU in the first, 25-21, and then dominated the second and third with wins of 25-16 and 25-9.
The Sooners trailed by as many as five in the first set and trailed 19-16 before winning nine of the next 11 points. Over that stretch, sophomore outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) led the OU attack with three kills. For the set, Oklahoma hit .441.
Holst finished with a match-high 13 kills to go with four digs and a .550 hitting percentage. The Sooners hit .413 as a team, led by senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) at .562 on 10 kills and senior outside hitter Keila Rodriguez (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) at .556 with 11 kills. Defensively, McLaurin added seven blocks and Rodriguez chipped in with eight digs.
Sophomore libero Taylor Migliazzo (Kansas City, Mo.) led the way for Oklahoma with nine digs. Chelsea Ross picked up a match-best 11 for the Blue Raiders.
MTSU hit .108 as a team, led by Jale Hervey with nine kills.
